Riders Thoughts:
It is easy to spend all day at the large Anthem Skatepark in Henderson Nevada. The size of this skatepark rivals some of the best skateparks we have seen and the flow of this skatepark is top notch. When you first walk through the gate and into the skatepark you are immediately greeted by some huge vert, steep walls, and deep bowls.
The majority of the skatepark is inside a very large bowl with many different sections. These separate sections are all connected by smooth transitions in every direction. The odd shape of the large bowl and its variety of depths creates an amazing flow. The flow naturally allows riders to build and maintain speed no matter what direction they are skating in.
The flat perimeter of Anthem Skatepark sits about 10 feet up from the bottom of the main bowl floor. While skating around the perimeter you will find some cool features in every corner of the skatepark.
There is a main ramp that leads riders down into the large bowl area. This main ramp has a few boxes, a flat ramp, and a few downhill humps linked in smooth transitions.
There are many rounded humps and changes in bowl depth that aid riders to build or gain speed. There are also a number of rounded humps and roll ins that can be used as an entry point into the bowl. Features like these really make riding a longboard in the skatepark fun.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now!
When you start a run with speed from a steep descent it is easy to pump and maintain speed through out this entire skatepark. It is easy for me to longboard this huge skatepark and hit every corner in a single run. The flow of this park is great and the variety of banked turns and smooth transitions makes for a really fun experience.
For those pool riders, Anthem Skatepark also has one free standing bean shaped bowl with full coping. This smaller bowl is still pretty deep and has variety of depths.
This skatepark also has a number of boxes, ledges, stairs, and rails for those skaters looking to get a good street sesh in.
Most really good skateparks are pretty popular and Anthem Skatepark is no exception. Some days there is a lot of traffic.. like almost too much – but it usually thins out here and there.
We noticed the traffic level was pretty light both early in the day as well as later in the night. This was nice because the park stays open and the lights are on until 10 pm. With the hot weather that southern Nevada experiences it is nice to have such a nice skatepark to skate at night when it starts to cool down.
Overall, Anthem Skatepark is must see for skatepark enthusiasts in the Las Vegas area. I really enjoy longboarding in this skatepark because of the speed and depth of the smooth transitioned vert walls. See it in action in the video below!
