Arcata Skate Park - The Lost Longboarder

The Arcata Skate Park is located on Sunset Avenue in Arcata, CA. It is close to the 101 ramp, across the bridge from Humpboldt State University. It’s a little skate park with smooth concrete.

The Arcata Skate Park is open from sunrise to sunset, with no lights for night riding. The skate park has a fence around it, but it’s not completely fenced in. It’s also free, which is great! There is a sign that states helmets and pads are a must, possibly enforced with a citation. The rule seems pretty lax, but it’s always a good idea to wear a helmet.

About the Arcata Skate Park

There are two main bowls in the park. Both of the bowls have some coping and some smooth rounded transitions. Most all of the edges are too steep to roll into the bowl, you gotta drop in! The smaller of the two bowls is round and about eight feet deep most of the way around. The larger of the two bowls is about six feet deep and is more of a snake bowl. It has some good flow to it but it’s not very tall, so don’t expect to build up too much speed.

There is also has a 3 sided box jump about 4 feet tall and 5 foot by 5 foot area on top. There are 1-2 feet banked turns in each of the parks three corners. The back bank has a lip with a decent sized elevated deck. There are some curbs around the perimeter of the park good for grinding. There are no rails installed, but I have seen people bring their own small rails.

Know Before You Go:

It does rain often in Arcata, so be aware of puddles in the pools. Another thing to note is that there is a drinking fountain! ..but no bathrooms.
