What is a Pump Track?
First of all, what is a pump track? A pump track is a trail system that is shaped into a looping circuit created with back-to-back berms, humps and banked turns that allow riders to build and maintain speed by active pumping. These features create a unique opportunity that allows riders to use their own body weight and momentum to propel themselves around the track by transferring their energy up and down. The motion of this energy transfer feels like “pumping” to the rider, hence the name pump track. Want to know more?? Who Can Use a Pump Track?
Pump Tracks are made for wheels! Pump tracks are great for coasting vehicles such as longboards, skateboards, and scooters, but they can also be great for bicycles. Some pump tracks are made of asphalt, some cement, some dirt, and some tracks are built with a combination of these.
Tracks made especially for bikes are often made of dirt and have large jumps and ramps. In this article we are focusing on asphalt pump tracks that are ideal for longboards and skateboards.
Richfield Pump Track
Let’s start with The Best Pump Track in Utah! After longboarding all these pump tracks in Utah, I found the Richfield Pump Track to be the best mostly because of the size.
This pump track in Richfield is HUGE and is loaded with tons of smooth transitions, banked turns, and humps. If you have never been to a pump track, this one might seem a little intimidating at first but you’ll get it. And if you know your way around a good track you will think this place is the best!
I found it pretty easy to fly around this track because the layout and all the humps make it easy for riders to build speed. Once you have that speed built, it is super easy to maintain and can feel like endless waves for surfing with a longboard! The Spoke Pump Track
The Spoke is a close second and another amazing example of the pump tracks in Utah. This large pump track is located right in the middle of a neighborhood!
This pump track is a lot of fun and the unique layout of this pump track will have you taking banked turns and zig-zags in every direction! What stood out from some of the other pump tracks in Utah was the opportunities to change up the direction and create new lines. Some pump tracks can start to feel pretty Nascar.
I really enjoyed longboarding at this pump track. The Spoke provides another great spot for longboarding and the flow here just seems to go and go. Wanna see it in action?! Check out this video to see me shred the pump track on a longboard!

Overland Pump Track
The Overland Pump Track is another of the great pump tracks in Utah. Set in a suburban neighborhood, this is a medium sized pump track or what I used to think was the typical size. But it almost feels a bit small when compared to Richfield or The Spoke.
The transitions here are great for longboarding in a pump track. And the neighborhood around the pump track has butter smooth streets as well! While cruising the pump track, there are opportunities to create numerous lines and mix up the flow.
The distant mountain backdrop creates a nice contrast to the neighborhood views at this Utah pump track. I was able to shred this one pretty well on the longboard and get some good speed.

West Valley Pump Track
The West Valley Pump Track is probably the most unique of the pump tracks in Utah. And it is also a very large pump track. This one was created with boards as well as bikes in mind.
Large humps in combination with large wood ramps and features set this pump track apart from others. There are a number of features here that unique to this pump track only! This facility has 3 different tracks and a skatepark all in the same place!

Bluffdale Pump Track
The Bluffdale Pump Track is a large facility with a pump track, skatepark, and mountain bike track! It’s pretty cool to have both a pump track and a skatepark at the same spot.
This is a medium sized pump track with banked turns and humps all over. The design is conducive to building and maintaining speed. You can really get going fast here! Out of all the pump tracks in Utah, we found that this one seemed to get the busiest. Experiencing traffic on a pump track can get intense because once you have your momentum, physics wants to keep you in motion.

Kanab Pump Track
Last but not least, the Kanab Pump Track is another unique build giving it a different feel from the other pump tracks in Utah. We’ve seen pump tracks by skateparks but this park is a combination of pump track and skatepark! The fact that they share transitions makes this a lot of fun. This is a really cool place tucked in amongst the red cliffs and rocks of Kanab, Utah.
The Kanab pump track surrounds the skatepark with a seamless integration, allowing riders to shred the pump track and the skatepark in the same line! Get creative and experience lines like no other pump track or skatepark.
