Riders Thoughts: Bozeman Skatepark
The skatepark in Bozeman, Montana is a fun skatepark. The park is not very big, but it is well designed. The parks engineering created a park that allows boarders to cruise at a good speed without any major interruptions. There are a few different areas of the Bozeman Skatepark that help to separate some of the beginners from the more advanced riders. The east side of the skatepark is an area with smooth transitions and roll over slopes. This part of the park is good for warming up or learning the basics of banked turns and rolling down an elevation change.
The east side of the park is separated from the large bowl on the west side of the park by a sloped plateau. This plateau has stairs up to the top on the east side and sits in the skatepark providing a large banked turn and vert ramp.
The banked turn has metal coping along the top of the concrete. The plateau descends to the floor of the skatepark with a moderately steep ramp. From this plateau the flow of the skatepark carries a rider to the bowl while maintaining a good amount of speed. The bowl is a good sized bowl open on one end to the floor of the skatepark, allowing for fun turns in and out of the bowl. The bowls in the Bozeman Skatepark has an irregular shape that allows riders to enter or exit the bowl from a few different angles.

From the top of the large bowl and the highest section of the skatepark there is a steep roll in that is the perfect start to a great line in the skatepark.
The roll in quickly takes you down, up and down a pyramid box, then into a sharp banked turn. This is a great turn to pump hard and build speed towards the large bowl. You can enter the bowl left or right and continue your line in either direction.
Starting from the plateau or by following the banked turn from the roll in, riders enjoy jumping the ledge gap to the top of the skatepark. The ramp on the north end of the park was designed for this jump in mind, and many of the regulars here make clearing this gap look easy.
The pyramid box on the south side of the park has the only rail in the park as well as a box with a metal lip. Aside from a few ledges and coping, this is the only area of the park with any street skating features.
The Bozeman Skatepark also has one more bowl that is not connected to the rest of the skatepark.
This bowl is almost a figure eight shaped bowl with a shallow and a deep end. It looks like a classic swimming pool to skate in, with cement coping along the edges.
All in all, we had a lot of fun at the Bozeman Skatepark! The features and their placements made for a great experience and I really enjoyed the flow.
