Our Experience Camping Near Frazier Falls
As the bumper sticker says, “Where the Hell is Greaeagle?”. Well we finally made it! And from there we turned onto Gold Lake Highway and that’s when we were shocked by what we saw – a granite playground dotted with brilliant blue lakes for as far as we could see. We dropped the trailer and set off in search of dispersed camp spots to call home while we explored this amazing area.
After a lot of looking, we finally found several spots for dispersed camping near Frazier Falls. Our spot in particular was an extremely tight fit – mere inches between our trailer walls and the trees. But we very carefully made it through the trees and then the spot opened up allowing us to get situated in this amazing spot. We got into the spot so we’ll worry about getting back out of it later, right?
We couldn’t pass this spot up because we had this right outside of our door!
And we felt so appreciative of having such an amazing spot that we vowed to make sure we swam at least a little every single day. So we did! Thankfully the hot summer days made it a little easier to take the cold plunge each time.
And the spot itself was open with tall trees on one side and the granite swim hole and creek on the other. So it felt nice and private even though the road to Frazier Falls was nearby.
So What About this Frazier Falls Place?
Frazier Falls was a short walk from our camp spot on a gravel road. Conveniently there are vault toilets at the trailhead as well as picnic tables and a paved path to the waterfall view point. Shane took advantage of the slow traffic days and longboarded the scenic, smooth and winding paved path in the woods!
The trail to Frazier Falls was a very beautiful, mellow walk that lead to a few overlooks. We were surprised by how tall and dramatic the waterfall cliff was! But what started as not much water falling by the time we left ended up being more of a trickle.
While we were camping near Frazier Falls, we had a great time in our backyard and exploring the area. In addition to the small swim hole, we also ventured up the creek for about a half mile or so. It was a mix or rock hopping and walking through the water. We found some nice deep spots that made for a refreshing dip but definitely not deep enough to jump in.

Also, just a short walk away we climbed around on a fun granite hillside. It was a random little adventure with some cool rocks, nice views and new scenery.
After a great two weeks it was time to move on! And in case you were wondering, we squeezed through the narrow trees and made a clean exit. Whew!
All in all, camping near Frazier Falls was awesome! Having a small pool in our backyard to play in and cool down was a great perk. Plus it was just a short walk to the smooth trail to the towering Frazier Falls. And of course you can’t go wrong with camping anywhere in the Gold Lake Highway area where adventure is all around you! Camping near Frazier Falls made a great home base for exploring nearby.
