Hiking to Whitney Lake | Holy Cross Wilderness
Whitney Lake is a relatively short hike to a pretty and peaceful tree-lined lake. But be warned, it may be short but it is also steep almost the entire way! Makes for a quick descent. Hiking to Whitney Lake seems like a super worthwhile destination for fishing - we saw a lot of good sized fish and a fisherman having luck while we were there.

Barton Creek Cave Tour with David’s Adventure Tours
Barton Creek Cave is a must-see thing to do in San Ignacio! This remote mountain cave is one of the largest river caves in Belize and is full of unique, intricate formations. The openness of the cave varies from huge cathedral ceilings to narrowly canoeing between draping formations. There is also evidence that Barton Creek Cave was used for Mayan ceremonial purposes. Artifacts include pottery shards and human remains that date back to about 1,800 years ago.

So we set off on our adventure.

Surprise Lake Trail Backpacking to Four Beautiful Lakes
Surprise Lake Trail access numerous different lakes in the Eagles Nest Wilderness. Instead of a long day hike, backpacking Surprise Lake Trail seemed like the most enjoyable way to see Surprise Lake, Cat Lake, Upper Cataract Lake and Mirror Lake. And it gave us the opportunity to squeeze in one more backpacking trip before the weather directed us to lower elevations!

Hiking to Boulder Lake | North Rock Creek Trailhead
We were excited to see more of the beauty within the Eagles Nest Wilderness! We were looking for a chill adventure and hiking to Boulder Lake ended up being just what we were looking for and more. It was a much shorter, milder hike than we've been tackling lately but still incredibly scenic. And our surprise wildlife counter is an experience we'll never forget!

Beautiful and Peaceful Hiking Elliot Ridge Trail to Meridian Peak
Elliot Ridge Trail is a long but moderate hike that stays above the treeline and offers incredible views of the surrounding mountains, particularly of the Eagles Nest Wilderness. And when it comes to difficulty, this hike was one of the most mellow hikes we have done in Colorado yet. There is still a decent amount of up and down but the grades are much more gentle. And yet we were still able to bag a peak!
