Chandler Skatepark | Snedigar Sports Complex
The Chandler Skatepark is a very large, nice skatepark located in the the Snedigar Sportsplex in the city of Chandler, Arizona. This large skatepark has numerous obstacles and plenty of space to accommodate a lot of riders. There are a variety of obstacles, banked turns, ramps and a couple bowls. With such a large, open layout and diversity of features I found the Chandler Skatepark to be a fun for riding a longboard in a skatepark.
First Impression: Chandler Skatepark
The Chandler Skatepark is very large and has a very open layout with ramps of various sizes and steepness all around.
Pros:
Large open layout with many great transitions for vert riders and obstacles for street riders.
Cons:
Strict closing time and they also close it if there is ANY rain or water on the cement.
Know Before You Go:
The Chandler Skatepark has lights for night riding, but closes at 10:15 pm. There is a large bright digital clock in the corner of the skatepark to let everyone know when they are closing. Also, if there is rain in the forecast, or if it rained the day before you may want to call ahead. They close and lock the entire skatepark even if there is just a little bit of water anywhere on the cement. You can call at: 480-782-2640

Riders Thoughts:
As soon as you enter the fenced in area of the Chandler Skatepark you understand the large scale of this skatepark. This skatepark has a very large and open layout with something for a rider of any skating style or skill level. The flow of this skatepark makes it great for riding a longboard in the skatepark.
The size of the skatepark gives all athletes plenty of room to skate without running into each other, And the open layout is great because it easily allows riders to see and be aware of each other.
The majority of the Chandler Skatepark sits a little below the wide perimeter and there are many entry points to get down into the main area. There are a variety ramps right by the front gate that descend into the large area. These ramps vary in steepness and angles and are great for warming up and getting started in the skatepark. This area provides new riders with a few mellow downhill ramps to get the hang of momentum on wheels.

Aside from these ramps riders will find mostly sharp angled cement and coping around the main area. For riders who can drop in, there are entry points surrounding the entire skatepark. A great feature to this large open area of the skatepark is the fact that the entire area has smooth rounded transitions which provide a great flow to the entire skatepark in any direction! There are also a variety of pockets and other banked turns that add to the flow and ability to link lines throughout the park.
There are a few boxes and pyramids located around the large area of the Chandler Skatepark. The main large box has a bunch of ramps in different directions and a very large rail.
There is one very tall box near the corner of the skatepark that is surrounded in six foot vert walls on each side. This is a great spot for advanced riders to start a run, but would be very intimidating to most riders. This feature also adds to the flow of the skatepark by providing riders with another smooth transition.
There is also a very simple but useful obstacle in this area of the skatepark. It’s a simple rounded hump in the floor of the park that is great for pumping and allowing riders to maintain a good speed through an open area of the park. This little hump is much like a hump in a pump track.
Along the perimeter of the skatepark the cement is wide and smooth with many slight elevation changes. These elevation changes are mostly mellow ramps and a few other obstacles. There are also a bunch of boxes and ledges of varied height around the outside of the skatepark.
Checking Out the Bowls at Chandler Skatepark
As you skate around the perimeter of the skatepark you will find two large bowls which are great for vert riders. The smaller of the bowls is fully lined in coping, with two different heights of walls about 4-5 feet tall. This bowl is a unique shape, with a few rounded corners and a large round circular pocket.
The large bowl at the Chandler Skatepark is about ten feet deep and a great bowl for experienced vert riders. This bowl is also fully lined in coping, giving riders a choice of dropping in or starting inside the bowl already. The tall walls and smooth transitions make it easy for riders to carry a fast speed though out their entire run. There are many banked turns in this bowl that riders can take in either direction and there is also a rounded hump in the middle of this bowl that adds to the flow and ability for riders to gain speed.
Overall the Chandler Skatepark is a great skatepark for everyone. Whether you’re just starting to ride a board or you’re a professional you will be able to have a lot of fun here. The size of the park adds to the experience and the variety of obstacles will improve your skills!
