Cheyenne Skatepark | William N. Brimmer Bowls and Street Plaza

We started our adventures in Wyoming by longboarding the path at Bear River State Park, then camping in the Medicine Bow National Forest and next we moved on to the Labonte Skatepark in Laramie. Our next stop: the Cheyenne Skatepark or more formally known as William N. Brimmer Bowls and Street Plaza. This is a very nice, large skatepark in Cheyenne Wyoming

First Impressions of the Cheyenne Skatepark:

This is a very large and open skate park. It has two big bowls and is a street skaters dream. And it is hard to miss all of the colors and great graffiti art all over the skatepark! Here are just a few of the cool graffiti tags we found.

Interesting graffiti art on the obstacles at the Cheyenne Skatepark

Pros:
Huge park with a ton of ramps, quarter pipes, boxes, rails, stairs, ledges, half pipe, and large bowls.

Cons:
Bowls are completely lined with coping, no roll in areas

Know Before You Go:
There is great graffiti all over the park! So if you’re an artist you may want to bring a few cans of paint. (Although I’m not sure if your actually allowed, paint at your own risk.) Also nice is that there are bathrooms by the parking area.

Directions:

The Cheyenne Skatepark is actually called William N. Brimmer Bowls and Street Plaza, and it is located inside of the larger Brimmer Park on the North East side of Cheyenne. The park can be found at the intersection of E Pershing Blvd & Windmill Rd in Cheyenne Wyoming 82001. Or click here to get directions to the Cheyenne Skatepark.

Riders Thoughts: Cheyenne Skatepark

The Cheyenne Skatepark is a very large and open skate park. As soon as we arrived we noticed the abundance of ramps, quarter pipes, boxes, rails, stairs, and ledges.

Most of the ramps and large quarter pipes are made of metal and placed on top of the concrete foundation. There are a bunch of large metal pyramids and boxes scattered throughout the park.

The Cheyenne Skatepark seems to me like a street skaters dream skatepark. There are so many obstacles that could be linked together to make creative lines. The amount of quarter pipes in this park makes it easy for someone to transfer over a spine and keep shredding all over the park.

The park also provides a decent sized half pipe with multiple levels.

The entire skatepark has a smooth concrete foundation that has a number of concrete ramps as well as a few rounded concrete features and ledges.

There are two bowls in the Cheyenne Skatepark. One is a medium sized bean shape and the other is a very large unique shaped bowl. Both bowls are completely lined in coping with no roll ins.

The large bowl varies in depth, one side being deeper than the other with a large vert wall. This bowl also features two large pockets that share a spine. The big bowl offers banked turns and lines in any direction. Both of the bowls in the skatepark are decorated with graffiti art and some of the artwork is awesome!

On the west end of the park there are a few walls dedicated to graffiti art, and past these walls in the distance is the Cheyenne airport. When we were here at the skatepark we actually saw a plane crash while landing at the airport.

Overall, this skatepark is made with the street skater in mind. The amount of street obstacles in the park make the Cheyenne Skatepark look like a level from one of the Tony Hawk video games. I am not usually a fan of the large loud metal ramps, but this seemed like a fitting environment for them. As a longboarder this was not the best skatepark for me to cruise around in. The large bowl with the good layout was the highlight of the park for me.

Graffiti Art

As an artist, another highlight of the Cheyenne skatepark is the amount of great artwork! There is a lot of talent displayed in many of these paintings. There are great examples of shading and creative color blending along side technical lines and lettering. Seeing artwork in every corner made it fun to explore and see the Cheyenne Skatepark from every angle.
