City of Angels
After the central coast we made it to Los Angeles!! I used to live in LA so I had to skate around and stop at some skate shops. I used to skate from my work on Wilshire down to the beach in Santa Monica. Longboarding in LA is fun, but can be scary at times. It is a concrete jungle with smooth sidewalks and streets everywhere! But.. there are also a lot of people and cars and… well.. there is a lot of EVERYTHING in LA, and that can be dangerous sometimes. Like when people are texting and driving and not looking for longboarders or pedestrians in the cross walks. If you cruise around LA on your board, be careful and be very aware of your surroundings. And have fun!
On this trip we got to skate a little in Santa Monica and on Venice Beach! My brother flew out to Cali and here he is on Venice beach! The path from Venice beach to Santa Monica was made to longboard on! Well, it’s actually a bike path.. but it is perfect for longboarding. It is extremely smooth and it is right on the beach! There is also a great skate park right on the beach too! Read more about that HERE.
I stopped in a handful of skate shops while in LA too. We stopped at the Olympus Board shop in Torrance and they were cool. They have a ton of snowboard stuff and a little bit of skate stuff. We also stopped at Warning Skate and Smoke Shop, these guys were really cool too. Their building was covered in awesome graffiti inside and out! The last of our LA skate shops was South Bay Skates. The South Bay skate shop had a TON of cool vintage decks. When I walked in, I was almost overwhelmed with how much there was to look at!
Right across the street from South Bay Skates is Alondra Park, which is awesome. It has a skate park and a long paved path to board on! You can read more about that HERE!
There is a lot to see in LA, and there are so many paths to cruise on, smooth streets, sidewalks, hills, and skate parks in LA. I know we hardly saw a fraction of that, but it was time to move on! After LA we headed east, the next stop is Arizona! Above you can see the Lost Coast Longboarding Speed Demon Board! You can pick one up HERE! Thanks for your support!
