Riders Thoughts:
The Douglas County Skatepark in Garnerville, Nevada is a large skatepark with a big open layout around an island of street features.
The horse shoe shaped park drops down to the main skating area via a number of ramps, ledges, quarter pipes, and coping. The drops and ramps range in scale from medium/mellow to tall/steep. There is even a very wide stepped 4 stair.
Some features in the middle of the skatepark include: a flat angled pyramid box, a number of boxes both flat as well as angled which mostly have metal ledges, rails, a rounded pyramid, and ramps of various shapes and sizes.
This area also features a few rounded transitions similar to pump track humps. These features helped add some flow to this side of the skatepark while riding the longboard.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
There are a few different ways to enter the main plaza area besides dropping in from the coping of a quarter pipe. Scattered around the skatepark there are a number of flat ramps leading down from the platform above, and these can be found at a few different heights. The large banked turns and the long ramps gave this park some flow when riding the longboard in a skatepark.
In addition to the flat ramps there is also a steep roll in from the top of the platform. This is a fun feature when riding a longboard in a skatepark because it can give riders the speed of dropping in without having to drop in with a longboard.
The skatepark in Gardnerville also has a large figure eight (ish) shaped bowl that is fully lined in coping. This large bowl is about 6-8 feet deep and features a number of banked turns and two flat angled hips.
Overall, the Douglas County Skatepark in Gardnerville, Nevada is a good skatepark for riders of any skill level. Riders with a street style of riding will get the most out of this skatepark.
