Durango Skatepark in Las Vegas
Durango Skatepark is located in the northwestern Las Vegas Area. There are skateparks scattered all over the Las Vegas area – some are great, some are not great. This skatepark is a good choice if you happen to be in this area of the city. Durango Skatepark is a medium sized skatepark that has good flow and a variety of transitions. It’s both great for learning and fun for more experienced riders.

Riders Thoughts:
The Durango Skatepark is full of rounded transitions which is great for riding a longboard in a skatepark. Most of this skatepark is set down inside of one main bowl area with rounded transitions on almost every wall. This is great for riding a longboard because the rounded transitions make it easier to maintain a good speed and carry your momentum through the banked turns.
The shallow end of the skatepark has a long straight ramp leading down into the large main area of the skatepark. This area has mostly medium sized vert walls, and then leads to two larger bowl areas. The main area of the skatepark has a variety of obstacles including: ramps, stairs, ledges, boxes, vert walls with coping, and roll ins. It has a little bit of everything and still has a pretty open layout with good flow.
Skate it Later – Pin it Now
The two larger bowl areas share a spine and have vert walls at about 6 feet surrounded mostly in coping. These bowls are great for experienced riders to drop in and link different areas of the skatepark into a single run. The smooth transition to the rest of the skatepark makes it easy for any rider to enter the bowl and experience a taller vert transition.
In the middle of the large open area of the Durango Skatepark there is a rounded pyramid box. This box is great if you’re already going fast because you can use it to your advantage by pumping your body weight down the ramp to increase your speed into the deeper bowls. Or if you’re a beginner, this box is a great place to start because it is a small ramp with a smooth transition to the ground. This is an ideal place to learn how to go down a ramp because it’s a small ramp that leads towards an empty layout with nothing in your path.
More About the Layout
Durango Skatepark features many different types of transitions including ramps, rounded banked turns, coping, and roll in areas. The variety of roll in areas made this skatepark fun for riding a longboard. The steep roll in areas provide riders with fast start to lines in multiple directions. Once moving fast it is easy to find the flow of this park and cruise it from corner to corner in a single line. There is one noteworthy drop in feature at this skatepark that I have never seen at any other, this has coping, but it also has a rounded roll in going in either direction!
The skatepark provides multiple levels of difficulty when it comes to dropping in on a traditional skateboard. The shallow end of this park is great for learning and the medium sized areas are great for strengthening your skills until you’re comfortable with a tall vert wall. Even if you can’t drop in, the transitions though out the skatepark make it so you can carry your speed high on the vert walls.
The perimeter of the Durango Skatepark is flat with a variety of boxes and a lone rail. In one corner of the flat perimeter there is a couple picnic tables with shaded coverings, a great break from the Las Vegas sun.
Overall, the Durango Skatepark is a great skatepark if you like smooth transitions and some flowy vert, but not ideal if you’re looking for street obstacles.
