Riders Thoughts: Eagle Rim Skatepark in Grand Junction
The Eagle Rim Skatepark in Grand Junction Colorado is a fun skatepark that has some really unique features. And much like Westlake Skatepark in Grand Junction, there is some impressive art found throughout the skatepark. Another characteristic that these two skateparks share is that they were created decades ago and are showing their age. But the creativity and effort that went into these unique layouts is evident. Let’s check out the layout and features at Eagle Rim Skatepark in Grand Junction.
Track Around the Perimeter
The most unique feature of Eagle Rim Skatepark is the cement track that circles the skatepark. This track features a number of small hills and banked turns which are great for longboarding at a skatepark. There are two very large and long banked turns on either end of the park, both covered in art. These large banked turns feel like surfing a cement wave when you’re riding a longboard. And the slight hills help get riders familiar with approaching a banked turn with speed.
The track and and the banked turns are great for going fast on either a longboard or a bike and makes for a fun time racing. This track feature kind of feels like a very early attempt at some of the newer pump tracks found in Colorado. The open space and layout of the track can be great for learning the basics on any wheeled vehicle and getting to used to using momentum.
Street Section
The street section of the Eagle Rim Skatepark in Grand Junction has tons of great features and street obstacles. Riders can find a variety of transition types and a variety of difficulty levels. This area is a great place for riders to learn by experiencing new things.
In this section of the skatepark you can find a variety of ramps, steps, rails, boxes, ledges, and quarter pipes. Many of these features are easy-medium difficulty level with gradual transitions that are good for learning.
Eagle Rim Skatepark has some ledges and a few pyramid boxes scattered around the street section. Most of these are pretty mellow with smooth transitions to the floor.
Small Vert Features
The vert section of the Eagle Rim Skatepark in Grand Junction is “U” shaped and about 4 feet deep with a cement ledge to the vert walls.
To get to this vert pocket from the street section riders will go down their choice of various ramps. The steep ramps here can push riders to enter the vert pocket very quickly.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
There are some pretty cool little features at this skatepark that could easily be over looked, but make for a really diverse skating environment. One example of these cool features are these ramps that lead down the other ramp. Having two different levels right next to each other is great for riders to gradually improve their skills.
Overall, street skaters will really enjoy the diversity of features at this skatepark. And beginners will be able to learn the basics here while also being exposed to many features that can really improve their skills. And the track is great for cruising or getting in some speedy laps with some fun banked turns and hills.
