Riders Thoughts:
While we were in the Cedar City area we decided to grab our longboards and check out the paved Coal Creek Trail. The path was great – smooth with some hills, pretty scenery and it passed a few different parks in the city. And that was when we stumbled upon Exit 59 Skatepark in Cedar City. We didn’t even know that the path would take us to a skatepark so that was a great surprise!
The skatepark in Cedar City is a modular style skatepark set on a flat concrete foundation. The quality of these modular ramps is great, this is one of the best modular skateparks we have encountered so far. What makes the ramps at this skatepark stand out is the nice diversity of transitions and obstacles. (Click here to see another great modular style skatepark – Hohokam Skatepark in Maricopa, AZ)
Throughout the Exit 59 Skatepark in Cedar City, riders can find numerous ramps and boxes. Most of the ramps are flat and lead up to a platform pyramid box. But there are also sections of rounded quarter pipe with coping.
There are boxes all over the skatepark and they come in a variety of sizes. For the grinders out there, you’ll find a number of rails scattered around the park – some on the ground and some on the boxes.
Skate it Later – Pin it Now
There are many sections of this skatepark that experienced skaters would appreciate. For instance, the opportunity to gap between ramps as well as the variety of transitions and boxes.
Another great feature of the Exit 59 Skatepark in Cedar City is the half pipe. This is not a huge half pipe, but it’s a decent size. The walls in the half pipe don’t quite make it to vertical, but it’s a mellow half pipe that’s great for shredding.
Along with skaters, this skatepark seems to be set up pretty well for BMX too. We were able to meet some people and see some very talented riders!
Overall, the Exit 59 Skatepark in Cedar City is a great skatepark for the street riders and fun for all ages and skill levels. The lack of bowls and vert doesn’t make this a great skatepark for longboarding but luckily it’s right on the Coal Creek Path so you still have miles of great longboarding!
