First Impressions: Redstone Skatepark in Highlands Ranch
When we first arrived at the Redstone Skatepark I was shocked at how big the park was. When you first walk through the gate the flat ground is actually the highest part of the entire skatepark. The large bowls and snake run are all well below the surface level of the ground.

Riders Thoughts: Redstone Skatepark in Highlands Ranch
Redstone Skatepark is a really fun skatepark with a lot of space and many different obstacles. Aside from the flat open area with the bench and covered shelter, there are three main parts of the skatepark: the large snake run and vert area, the street section, and the beginner bowl.
Snake Run and Vert Section
The highlight of this skatepark in Highlands Ranch for me is the large downhill snake run that ends in a deep vert bowl area. This area has smooth transitions in every corner and a great flow. It is ideal for cement surfing with a longboard in the skatepark!
You can see how large this snake run actually is, I look tiny on the wall (above)! The downhill flow and banked turns really allow riders to gain speed as they enter the deeper side of the bowl. Having speed in this area helps riders get high on the tall walls.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
There are a number or rounded corners and banked turns in the bowl. And you will also find one protruding sharp angled hip that directs the flow inside the bowl. This area of the skatepark is a lot of fun when riding a longboard in a skatepark because the large scale walls and turns create a good flow that is fun to navigate at high speeds.
The large snake run makes it so there is no need to drop-in to the large deep section of this skatepark. But there are plenty of places to drop-in if desired. I like to drop in near the middle because it is deeper than the beginner bowl, but not as tall as the deep section.
Dropping in with a longboard like mine can be difficult because there is no tail on the longboard. But if you would like to learn how, we have a “how to drop-in” article. Or you might want to check out our “how to drop in on a longboard” video!
Street Section
The street section of Redstone Skatepark has a traditional back and forth flow between ramps and quarter pipes with street obstacles in between. The surface between these ramps is not flat like most skateparks, instead this area has three different levels. The top level is actually where the downhill flow of the entire skatepark starts.
Street riders will find a number of rails, ramps, and a few small stair sets in the middle of the street section. The builders of the park utilized a few different shapes of rails so riders will find flat and round rails at a variety of heights and angles. There are a few different quarter pipe heights and steepness’ in this area. And one quarter pipe even has a rounded roll in.
The variety of obstacles and a range in feature sizes makes this a great skatepark for riders to learn new skills and to try new things. I think the Redstone Skatepark provides an ideal place for athletes to constantly improve their skill sets.
The Beginner Bowl
The beginner bowl at Redstone Skatepark is a large but shallow bowl that gives new riders a mellow vert riding experience. This bowl is shaped kind of like a “B” with an island in the middle. All of the corners in this bowl are rounded and very mellow.
This bowl is completely lined in coping with a spine leading to the island. The mellowness of the walls in this bowl provide a great place for riders to learn how to drop-in.
Redstone Skatepark in Highlands Ranch, Colorado is a great skatepark for riders of any skill level. After spending some time at this skatepark I’m sure most riders will leave as better skaters compared to how they arrived. I really enjoyed riding my longboard here because the downhill flow of the entire park mixed with the banked turns, smooth transitions of the snake run and vert sections created an ideal Cement Surfing environment!
