Granite Skatepark in Sacramento
Granite Skatepark in Sacramento is one of the more impressive of the numerous skateparks to choose from in the area. Granite Skatepark is a huge skatepark with many options for vert, bowls, and street obstacles. The size of this skatepark and the variety of obstacles make this a great skatepark for all riders, from beginners to advanced.
First Impression of Granite Skatepark
Granite Skatepark is huge! When we first arrived at the parking lot of the Granite Skatepark, we didn’t really know what to expect. The goofy looking bobblehead statues were covered in graffiti and the skatepark looked like a jail – surrounded by an 8 foot steel fence with a pretty intense looking gate. But once through the gate, it’s like walking into Disneyland for skaters!
Pros:
Large bowls, tall vert, and enough space for a lot of speed in the bowls. Great flow. Large layout makes it so traffic issues are easily avoidable.
Cons:
No cons, it’s all good here.
Know Before You Go:
You can spend all day here, some vert is very tall, bring pads if you’ve got them. Closes at 10pm

Riders Thoughts:
The Granite Skatepark in Sacramento is a great skatepark. The park itself is very large – almost like a few different skateparks put together. The skatepark has a large grassy area with a few picnic tables right in the middle! That’s how big this skatepark is.
There are a few different areas to Granite Skatepark including seven separate bowls and a large street section. This awesome diversity of obstacles, grades and features make this a great skatepark for beginners to gradually work towards more advanced obstacles.
Checking Out the Layout
Upon entering the Granite Skatepark, the street section is to the right and there is a small bowl to the left. These are both good areas for beginners to start because the grades here are more mellow. This first bowl is great for someone on a longboard because of the very gradual ramp on half of the bowl. The ramp makes for a great spot to roll in and gather speed for the banked turns of the bowl.
From this area as you make your way clockwise around the skatepark, you will find a the lone standing pool bowl and the shaded picnic tables. This bowl is the classic pool shape with full coping and tile around the side. The deep vert of this bowl makes it a bowl for the advanced rider.
Just past the picnic tables and to the left is a huge bowl with a tunnel! The tunnel is open on top with rails completing the loop.
The bowl is a very unique shape with a few banked turns which are great for pumping up speed on a longboard. And a long wall ride through the tunnel can provide that cement surf feeling.
Shred it Later! Pin it Now
Next to the large tunnel bowl in the Granite Skatepark there is a two level bean-shaped pool bowl. This bowl is mostly surrounded in coping except for the very convenient roll in.
This simple roll in made it possible for me to roll in with the longboard and shred the tall vert in the deep side. You can gain a lot of speed very quickly on this steep roll making for an exhilarating run!
After the roll in bean bowl, the next area of the park is a great multi-use area. There are several banked turns in this area making it flow well like a bowl, but there are also some ramps and boxes in this area which make it a great street section as well.
Next to this larger open multi-use area is where you can find a four leaf clover shaped bowl. This bowl has four shallow pockets all connected in the middle with a hump. The clover bowl is fun and also has a roll in and coping.
The Final Bowl
Making your way around the skatepark, now you are in the corner opposite the gate to get in. This is where the largest and deepest of the Granite Skatepark bowls is located. This bowl has 10+ foot vert walls and banked turns with four large pockets.
There is a technical roll in to this bowl and a large rounded hump in the middle of the bowl. These two things make this bowl a lot of fun on a longboard.
The roll in is tricky and the size of the bowl really builds speed making it easy to get high on the vert walls and pump through the banked turns.
The rounded hump in the middle of the bowl is extremely helpful in creating long runs because it allows a rider to regain lost speed easily.
This bowl was the highlight of the Granite Skatepark for me and my longboard. I did wipe out once in this bowl and it shook me pretty good, but this park has plenty of distractions so I didn’t stay down long.
Street Section
The large bowl is the last of the bowls. From here, the skatepark continues with the beginning of the street section. The large street section starts at the back of the park, goes down a ramp and staircase, up a pyramid box, and then wraps around the corner back to the entrance of the park. On this side of the street area you can find a few stair cases, ramps, and a bunch of boxes and ledges.

Overall Granite Skatepark is amazing – the size and the flow mixed with an incredible mix of features and obstacles. This skatepark had a little bit of everything. I really enjoyed this park because of the great variety of bowls that have roll in areas. These roll in’s are important to me as a longboard rider and this park suits my style of skatepark riding well.
