Great Skateparks in California with Lost Coast Longboarding
With the birth of the skate and surf scene in the early 1960’s it’s no surprise that the resulting culture would lead to an incredible number of skateparks in California. It seems no matter where you are in this beautiful state, you can usually find a skatepark nearby. And with the sheer number of skateparks in California, it’s sure enough that there are some really great facilities with impressive layouts and designs.
With the support of pro skaters themselves, supportive communities and extremely talented designers, there are many skateparks in California that are among the best in the country. The diversity of skateparks cater to all styles of riders. Find some serious vert layouts with unique bowls as well as large street plazas with an impressive variety of obstacles.
As we travel around the country, we stop at skateparks as often as we can. I enjoy taking my longboard in the skatepark to discover new flow and surf these great cement waves.
We’ve been to over 60 California skateparks so far and we’ve got plenty more to see. Read on to discover some of the most impressive skateparks in California that we’ve visited so far.
Side note: As a longboarder, when I ride my board in a skatepark I am in search of that never ending cement wave…. meaning, I really enjoy a great flow of smooth transitions and some tall vert and banked turns.
You can see from the pictures why riding a longboard in a skatepark is referred to as cement surfing. And you can see this riding style preference reflected in my choice of the great skateparks in California below.

Awesome Skateparks in California
Orange Cove Skatepark
Orange Cove Skatepark is an awesome skatepark that measures up at 36,000 square feet of spacious, fun flowing cement. The large spacious layout has numerous banked turns, nice vert and great flow allowing for endless lines.
The tall walls, smooth transitions, and numerous pockets make this a great place for longboarding in a skatepark. These features combine to make it easy for a rider to start fast and keep going faster.
Orange Cove Skatepark is a little off the beaten path and it surprised us at how great it was. It turned out to be one of those amazing skateparks in California and one of the most fun skateparks I’ve longboarded in! Check out our experience here!

Eureka Skatepark
The Eureka Skatepark is a 12,000 square foot skatepark that has something for all skaters, including vert and street features. The largest bowl is a unique shape with tall vert walls and the smaller bowl includes a pretty cool 10 foot overt pocket.
Along with these two bowls, this skatepark also has a great street section. Here you’ll find boxes, rails, stairs, and a few more ramps and banked turns.

Jason Turnage Skatepark
Turnage Skatepark AKA the Oakdale Skatepark, is a located in Oakdale, California. This is a very clean and spacious skatepark with a great diversity of obstacles.
A great street section includes numerous boxes, ramps, ledges, and stairs in a variety of sizes and angles. And the Oakdale Skatepark is sure to check those boxes. This skatepark also has a few great bowls for the vert riders. These bowls each have a unique shape, are lined in coping and have smooth transitions.

Bedrock Skatepark
The Bedrock Skatepark in Oroville is a fun skatepark that has more than initially meets the eye. The spacious street skate area contains a number of ramps and boxes as well as a half pipe.
The bowl section of the Oroville Skatepark is set up great for longboarding in a skatepark. There are a number of smooth roll ins and the bowl is almost like a track. It’s full of smooth transitions and banked turns which iare great for pumping and building speed.

Lions Skatepark
The Lions Skatepark in Fresno is a huge skatepark! This skatepark has a very large and open layout full of banked turns and big pyramid boxes. The banked turns and great variety of smooth transitions give this skatepark a great flow.
The Lions Skatepark was the first concrete skatepark in Fresno. This huge concrete skatepark is great for skateboards but does have A LOT of strictly enforced rules. So be sure to bring a helmet and remember SKATEBOARDS ONLY here.

Auburn Skatepark
The Auburn Skatepark has a ton of flow and makes for a very fun skatepark to longboard at. Most of this park is set inside a large bowl with a number of different transition types including ramps, coping, and a number of smooth roll in areas.
One unique feature of this skatepark that makes it different than most is the large amount of artwork surrounding the park. These graffiti walls are great because they really set a cool vibe and it’s nice not to have slippery spay paint on the actual skatepark.
And as far as street obstacles go, there are numerous boxes and ledges scattered throughout the skatepark as well as a couple rails.

Grass Valley Skatepark
The Grass Valley Skatepark is a pretty big skatepark great for any rider but lots of fun for advanced riders.
The great flow and tall walls make for some big cement waves while longboarding in this skatepark. This entire park flows together and provides riders with a few different obstacles.
Most people don’t think of riding a longboard in the bowl but it makes for some fun cement surfing! Check it out!

Rocker Memorial Skatepark
The Rocker Memorial Skatepark is the local Truckee Skatepark. This compact skatepark packs a punch with some great lines and some great speed.
The roll in into the main bowl area is great for the longboard! And the smooth transitions make this a fun park some cement surfing. The compact size of this park is great for pop tricks and the steepness helps riders move quickly. Check it out!

Santa Clarita Skatepark
The Santa Clarita Skatepark is a unique 40,000 square foot skatepark featuring a bowl, snake runs, handrails, a bridge, bowl, & a half-pipe.
Along with all of these unique features the Santa Clarita Skatepark also features a top notch street plaza area. As you can see, there are a ton of stairs, ramps and rails.

Curt Pernice Skatepark
The Curt Pernice Skatepark in Ripon is a huge skatepark that big vert skaters will love. This skatepark is full of large banked turns and big vert.
This large vert layout is perfect for longboarding in a skatepark! It is easy to go really fast and the banked turns make it easy to maintain a high speed all around the park. The Ripon Skatepark is one of my favorite skateparks in California.

Granite Skatepark
The Granite Skatepark is one of the best skateparks in the Sacramento area. This is a huge skatepark with so many incredible features and obstacles. This different sections and styles found throughout this skatepark makes it feel like a few different skateparks all put together in one spot.
Granite Skatepark has an amazing variety of unique features throughout the large layout. There are several different bowls each of different shapes and sizes as well as some street skate areas.
Riders of any skill level will enjoy this park, but advanced riders will really enjoy what this park has to offer. I’d say Granite Skatepark is among the best skatepark in California.

Volcom Brother Skatepark
The Volcom Brothers Skatepark in Mammoth Lakes is 40,000 square feet of awesome. Mammoth Skatepark is like no other for a number of reasons, one being the breathtaking backdrop that only the eastern Sierras can offer.
The size, flow and smooth transitions of the Mammoth Skatepark are like a dream come true for riding a longboard in the skatepark. So it’s no surprise that Mammoth Skatepark is one of my favorite skateparks in California! In addition to the great smooth flow of the skatepark, there is a unique large street section as well as a stand along bowl.

San Luis Obispo Skatepark
The 15,000 square-foot San Luis Obispo Skatepark features one-of-a-kind ramps, as well as stairs, rails, and three bowls of different depths to accommodate all experience levels.
The unique shape of the main bowl in this skatepark is the definition of cement waves, while the rest of the park provides obstacles to riders of all styles.

Rotary Skatepark
Rotary Skatepark in Clovis is an awesome 27,000 square foot skatepark that feels even bigger than it is. This skatepark has a spacious layout full of great features for both street and vert riders.
Rotary Skatepark seems to be divided into a street side and a vert side with a nice mixture to link them together. Both sides of this skatepark serve their purposes greatly.
The large vert sections at the Rotary Skatepark are great for longboarding in a skatepark because the smooth transitions and tall walls help maintain high speeds! Check it out!

Tulare Skatepark
The Tulare Skatepark is an amazing 25,000 square foot Wally Hollyday skatepark that any vert or bowl rider will respect dearly. Here you’ll find tons of huge vert and some really great bowls. It really is a vert riders dream skatepark.
But even the street side has some cool features including a pump track feature and some nice stairs, ledges and rails. This skatepark provides a unique atmosphere and a memorable skate experience.
The bowls at Tulare Skatepark are incredible. They each have their own unique shape, size and depth with great pockets and fun art. I really enjoyed longboarding each of these bowls and learning the flow and features of each
This is an extremely well built skatepark and the flow is obvious while cruising around. The Tulare Skatepark is another one of my favorite skateparks in California. And it also made for one of our best Cement Surfing videos, definitely worth checking out!

Venice Beach Skatepark
Venice Beach Skatepark is one of the most, if not THE most, iconic skateparks in California, located right on the infamous Venice Beach. This 16,000 square foot skatepark features two bowls, a snake run, street obstacles that include steps, rails and platforms as well as ocean views. And don’t be shy, this is a skatepark that seems to attract more spectators than actual skaters.
Venice Beach Skatepark is usually very busy and full of very talented athletes. It can be intimidating to some skaters but if you ever get the chance to skate here, you’ve gotta do it!

Palm Springs
Palms Springs Skatepark is another well known skatepark in California. Measuring in at about 30,000 square feet you’ll find smooth cement, three unique bowls and various street obstacles.
To enter this skatepark you have to walk through a skate shop which is pretty unique. Once out the door you enter a great street plaza skating area. Here you’ll find numerous boxes, ramps, rails and a quarter pipe.
Each of the bowls have their own unique shape and size. The main bowl is open and mixed in with the street obstacles. The second bowl is large with an unusual shape and several pockets And the third is a bean shaped bowl.

Tanzanite
Tanzanite Skatepark is a large skatepark with a great mix of vert and street obstacles. The bowls vary in shape and sizes. You can also find some roll ins here that make this a lot of fun for longboarding in a skatepark. The large bowls of this skatepark have great flow with some pretty unique features and fun pockets.
There is no shortage of street obstacles here at Tanzanite Skatepark. You’ll find a nice range of ramps, rails, ledges and stairs leading up to an open platform for street tricks.

Temecula
The City of Temecula has a pretty unique skatepark. For instance, the key feature to this skatepark is the large hill in the middle that is great for starting a line really allowing riders to pick up speed. The large main bowl is pretty open with well placed pyramid features for maintaining speed. There is a stand alone bowl near the top of the hill and several large stair cases, a rail and some boxes.
Another great feature of the Temecula Skatepark is that there is an entire pump track right next to the skatepark! This is a great pump track making a trip to the skatepark even more worthwhile.
