Great Street and Vert at Edwards Skatepark in Colorado

The Edwards Skatepark is located inside the larger Freedom City Park. And this large cement skatepark is split into two sections – a huge vert section and an equally large street section. Riders of any skill set will find something to do here, but experienced riders will have a great time whether they prefer street or vert. The smooth transitions and large scale vert section make this a great place for longboarding in a skatepark.

Riders Thoughts:

The Edwards Skatepark is a great skatepark because it offers such a diversity of skate obstacles and can easily be enjoyed by both street and vert style skaters. The large scale of the park gives riders plenty of room to skate without interfering with each other.

There is an abundance of skate obstacles here. And a diversity that provide riders with many opportunities to try new features and learn new tricks. Around the street section of the Edwards Skatepark riders can find a bunch of rails that vary in size, angles, and lengths as well as a ton of ledges and boxes. The flow of this side of the park is created by a number of ramps and stair cases. Both the stairs and the ramps vary in length and steepness.

rails and a series of shallow bowls back to back with smooth transitions

Along one side of the skatepark you will find a series of small smooth transitioned shallow square bowls. These smooth transitions are a lot of fun and great for teaching riders how to take some angles and banked turns on a board.

We had a lot of fun with the people at this skatepark. There was a good atmosphere and it was easy to get along with people and make friends. The street side of the skatepark has a number of steep quarter pipes. These allow riders to build up a good amount of speed very quickly. And there are some parts of this skatepark that are lined up perfectly for airing out with a lot of speed. As demonstrated by one of our friends!

The Vert Section of the Edwards Skatepark

The vert section of the Edwards Skatepark is perfect for longboarding in a skatepark! The vert section here is a single bowl, but it is a huge bowl with a ton of pockets and turns. The walls of this large vert section are 10+ feet in some areas which gives riders plenty of room to gain speed and get high on the walls. The creative shape of this vert section is great because it allows riders to make creative lines and hit turns in either direction.

The vert section of the Edwards Skatepark starts in the shallow end of the bowl where there is a small pocket that shares a spine with the other side of the bowl. The banked turns of this side of the park are great for longboarding in a skatepark because they are shaped just right to pump your momentum and gain speed as you enter the deeper side of the bowl.

Most of the big bowl in the vert section is surrounded in full metal coping, except for one smooth roll in. This roll in is great for longboarding in the Edwards Skatepark because it is a smooth transition and a rider can aim for the first pocket and banked turns in either direction. This roll in has perfect placement for starting a line and shredding the vert section of these large cement waves.

The Edwards Skatepark also has another stand alone bowl with a full cradle! This large bowl is fully lined in coping and is full of smooth transitions and steep turns.

This large bowl is a medium depth on one side and very deep on the other side with a cool change in depth right in the middle of the bowl. This drop in depth helps give riders enough speed to get upside down in the cradle. This bowl also features a large rounded hump which adds another dimension to the experience. Experienced riders will enjoy the thrill this steep bowl has to offer.
