And we couldn’t help but notice that many of the neighborhoods have great smooth asphalt for longboarding. There are many classic suburbia neighborhoods in the area that have well paved roads and some hills. This article is just a glimpse of one of the neighborhoods that happened to catch our eye.
Longboarding in Saint George: Tonaquint Neighborhood
Since we were trying to get in some more longboarding in Saint George, we checked out a neighborhood near Tonaquint. This particular neighborhood was located off of South Tonaquint Drive directly across the street from Tonaquint Intermediate School in Saint George. The spot caught our eye because of the smooth pavement, number of hills, minimal traffic, and a helpful tip from a local longboarder.
In this neighborhood you’ll find a number of hills, smooth streets, and an endless number of routes. There are some steep hills, as well as some mellow ones, providing plenty of opportunities to practice some power slides.
If you’re looking for a spot to do some longboarding in Saint George be sure to check out this area. And don’t forget to take the time to appreciate the beautiful backdrop of the mountains in the distance.
The day we were here, there was minimal vehicle traffic. There we’re a few kids in the neighborhood, some on scooters and some on bikes, but we didn’t see any other skateboarders around.
From this neighborhood, I skated downhill on Tonaquint Drive to the start of the Santa Clara Trail near Cottonwood Park. From the end of Tonaquint Drive, the SK8 George skate park is not a far skate. You can see some pictures of the that trail and the skate park here!
