Kanab Skatepark and Pump Track | 2 Unique Parks Combined

The Kanab Skatepark is a really unique skatepark design that is claimed to be the first of its kind. This skatepark combines a traditional cement skatepark with an asphalt pump track that runs along the entire perimeter. The design here is seamless and the features incorporate a lot of great flow. This is a great spot for longboarding in a skatepark and ripping around the pump track.

This skatepark in Kanab was built in 2017 by the city and American Ramp Company. There are many great features that allow for lines that incorporate both the pump track and the skatepark. First Impressions: Kanab Skatepark

Before we even got to the skatepark we noticed the dramatic backdrop of a scenic Utah landscape. The red dirt and cliffs add to the beautiful setting for the Kanab Skatepark and Pump Track.

Pros: Smooth transitions, pump track, pool bowl, good flow.

Know Before You Go: Open from sunrise to 10pm and there are lights! The Kanab Skatepark is inside a larger city park with basketball courts, playground, picnic tables, and plenty of open grass.

Riders Thoughts: Kanab Skatepark Pump Track Combination

The Kanab Skatepark and Pump Track is a lot of fun, even more than I first expected. Since the skatepark is seamlessly surrounded by a pump track, there are so many opportunities for creative lines. The smooth transitions and various features make it so your lines can include both the skatepark and the pump track in one continuous go. And it’s really easy to go from one to the other.

I found this whole facility to be a great place for cement surfing on the longboard. There are many smooth transitions that the longboard can easily traverse all over the park. And the pump track really helps riders maintain speed as they travel around the park.

The pump track has two very distinctly different sides. One side being very windy with banked turns, and the other side having many humps of different sizes that really allow a rider to build speed.

The pump track in Kanab has large banked turns in each corner. But there are plenty of routes riders can take to avoid the turns if they wish. I found the features and elements of this skatepark to be good for riders of any skill level. This is a great skatepark for beginners to learn, but also, the pros will surely have a good time skating these features.

There are various sizes of humps around the pump track. As you can see in the picture above, some of the humps are quite large and can really get a rider moving fast! The back side of the skatepark has a small quarter pipe and two large banked turns on the pump track.

The Kanab Skatepark also has a number of features that street style skaters will enjoy. Around the park riders can find a variety of boxes, ledges, rocks, ramps, and a rail.

The Kanab Skatepark also features a small classic bean shaped pool bowl. This bowl has a shallow and a deeper side with mellow rounded transitions. Getting over the coping here made for a pretty cool photo opp with a beautiful mountain backdrop!

The bowl is fully lined in coping so you’ll need to drop into this one. Dropping in with a longboard can be difficult, but here’s our “how to” video if you’d like to give it a try!

This skatepark pump track combination provides riders with a ton of flow and the ability to build plenty of speed to attempt any trick. I found that being able to go from pump track to skatepark and back to pump track in the same line made for a unique experience that you can’t get at many other skateparks.

Some skaters are strictly street, and some skate only vert, some skate both and some skate neither and prefer to cruise around. No matter your skating style the Kanab Skatepark is a great place to spend some time and a great place to shred!
