Kingman Skatepark | Cement Street Skating in the Desert
The Kingman Skatepark in Kingman Arizona is a medium sized cement skatepark that makes for a fun day at the skatepark. I was able to ride my longboard here, but the size of the skatepark and the transitions are not ideal for longboarding in a skatepark.
First Impressions:
When we first arrived at the Kingman Skatepark I was happy to see a good variety of ramps and transitions. We’ve been here a few times and every time there seems to be a good number of athletes skating around.
Pros: Good layout and obstacles for street style skating. Small bowl.
Cons: Many very steep and short transitions.
Directions: Kingman Skatepark is located at 2001 Detroit Avenue, Kingman, AZ 86401. Click here to get directions.
Know Before You Go: Kingman Skatepark is located in Firefighter’s Memorial Park which also has a playground, frisbee golf, shaded picnic pavilion with grills, restrooms, and open grassy area.
Riders Thoughts: Kingman Skatepark
The Kingman Skatepark has ramps, rails, and ledges all over the park which adds a good amount of flow to the layout. Skating around the park you’ll also find many boxes, some with ramps and some without. Some of these ramps are very steep which is great for launching skateboarders over the boxes. But these steep transitions can bottom out a longboard.
The far side of the skatepark has a number of large banked turns that are fun for longboarding in a skatepark. These walls are about 4 feet tall with smooth transitions and are lined in coping along the top. There is also a small hump/small wall feature in the middle of this area which kind of helps the flow by providing a small banked turn. This small wall has a smooth transition on one side and coping along half of the top. This is a unique feature that has a variety of uses.
The Kingman Skatepark is also home to a very uniquely shaped bowl. This bowl is mostly lined in coping with one steep roll in entrance. This bowl is kind of shaped like 3 or 4 different circle bowls put together with a few gaps of steep roll in that connect the circles. These roll in/connections are very steep with kind of harsh transitions that make most boards and scooters bottom out. The larger area of the bowl has a pretty good flow and some banked turns.
Skate it Later – Pin it Now
Along the back wall riders will find a variety of quarter pipe ramps as well as a larger steep flat ramp. This area is fully lined in coping and kind of just stops at the grass. This area has the largest obstacles in the skatepark.
Overall the Kingman Skatepark is littered with ramps, boxes, and other small transitions that street skaters will really enjoy. The compact size and layout is not ideal for longboarding in a skatepark, but the smooth transitions and banked turns on the far side of the park are a lot of fun.
