Leadville Skatepark | Highest Concrete Skatepark in America
Leadville Skatepark is an awesome 21,000 square foot concrete skatepark located in Leadville, Colorado – the highest incorporated city in America. So at about 10,151 feet elevation, that makes the Leadville Skatepark the highest concrete skatepark in America. Just a fun fact. But elevation aside, Leadville Skatepark was created by Native Skateparks and opened in 2014. This large concrete layout is well thought out with a good mix of street and vert, great flow and a nice variety of obstacles. The large vert and smooth transitions make the Leadville Skatepark a great place for longboarding in a skatepark. Keep reading to find out more about the features, obstacles, layout and flow.

Riders Thoughts:
The Leadville Skatepark is an amazing skatepark with super smooth cement, a great variety of obstacles, many different types of transitions, and an extraordinary vert section.
The skatepark is kind of divided into three different parts. First is a large mostly flat street section with a bunch of ramps, boxes, and rails. This area has anything that a street rider would be looking for. The layout is great with a variety of transitions and good flow. There is a very large wall/ramp that provides riders with a variety of heights which connects to the ground at few different levels. This large wall provided an ideal place to wall ride. And because of the variety of heights it is a great place to learn and gradually get better and better as riders build confidence.
The opposite side of the skatepark from this large wall, is another similar wall with different features. This side of the skatepark also features a number of boxes, rails and ramps. Including an almost casket shaped ramp and gap.
The large vert section of the Leadville Skatepark is the highlight for my style of riding a longboard in a skatepark. This huge vert area is loaded with tons of smooth transitions and banked turns in every direction.
This vert section has a variety of transitions for riders to play on including a steep ramp that gives riders a great place to start a vert run with plenty of speed without the hassle of having to drop in. But if you like dropping in, there is plenty of coping all around the edges of the vert section. There are so many rounded obstacles and platforms that add much depth and flow to this section of the Leadville Skatepark.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now!
Not only do these features add depth, but they also provide much flow to the park and allow riders to pump their momentum forward which makes for endless lines. When riding a longboard in this skatepark I was able to continuously skate for as long as my lungs allowed. The flow and transitions in this skatepark are seamless and provide the ideal place for some cement surfing.
This large vert section features a number of unique features. For instance, an elevated rounded pocket, a tall island covered in smooth transitions, plus a spine separating two other pockets, as well as a cool volcano looking feature.
The third and final section of this skatepark is an independent bowl. This bowl is very deep and very steep. The bowl gets 10+ feet deep and is surrounded in cement coping. This part of the skatepark is a dream for experienced pool riders.
Overall the Leadville Skatepark is an amazing skatepark that any skater will love. I could easily spend hours and hours here, and still be excited to come back tomorrow. This skatepark is great for everyone because it provides a great place for beginners and kids to work on their skills. It has a variety of features in different sizes which will give riders the ability to gradually try larger obstacles. Then they can build confidence until they are ready for the large scale obstacles that experienced riders will love to shred!
