Lions Skatepark in Fresno | Awesome and Spacious
The Lions Skatepark in Fresno is a great example of a large scale California skatepark. And one of the more impressive that we encountered on our Central California skatepark adventure. Whether you prefer street or vert style skating, all skateboarders will probably love everything about this amazing Fresno skatepark.
First Impressions of Lions Skatepark in Fresno:
My very first impression was…. “seriously?!!” There are soooo many rules at this skatepark and there is literally a person sitting at the gate enforcing every single rule.. so that was kind of weird and unexpected for a free skatepark… But once you get in the Lions Skatepark, it is AWESOME!
Pros: Great vert, tons of smooth transitions and large banked turns.
Cons: The hours and strict rules are kind of a bummer.

Know Before You Go: Bring your helmet!! Also, there was one rule you should be aware of that we thought was weird but strictly enforced.. You can only enter the skatepark if you have a skateboard. You can NOT enter with a scooter, bike, ripstick, roller skates, roller blades, or even your feet! No spectators are allowed inside the skatepark and you must have a skateboard and helmet to enter the gate. No food or drinks.
These rules are different than any other skatepark we’ve experienced before but because of all the rules people were being turned away at the gate. This huge skatepark seemed empty when we visited.. almost like a waste of a great skatepark that many people cannot use. But because I ride a skateboard/longboard, I was able to skate while not having to worry about running into kids or bikes or scooters when I was going really fast. The lack of traffic makes this park feel very safe so I can see why some people would like the rules.
Now on to the good stuff!
Riders Thoughts:
The Lions Skatepark in Fresno is a huge skatepark with ramps and obstacles of every shape and every size. Having such a diversity of sizes and angles makes this a great skatepark for riders of any skill level.
The mellow ramps are great for beginners to use for learning and getting more comfortable. They also serve as a great area for advanced riders to warm up and get started on the skate sesh.
The large size of this Fresno Skatepark mixed with the banked turns and smooth transitions make it easy for riders to build up speed and get moving fast. These tall vert walls and large banked turns are great for riding a longboard in a skatepark!
From this angle you can see the size of the skatepark features gradually get bigger from one side of the park to the other. This arrangement of the features gives this park a great flow and downhill feel. That is why I think this is a great skatepark for longboarding.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
The vert area in the Lions skatepark provides a variety of tall vert walls and a bunch of smooth transitions and banked turns. The unique shape of this vert area allows riders to switch up their lines and take turns in multiple directions. The deepest vert here is a deep rounded rectangular bowl that smoothly links to the rest of the vert area. These tall walls and wide turns allow rider to go fast though this side of the skatepark. This deep vert section of the skatepark is fully lined in coping.
This deep vert section felt like surfing the cement on the longboard! This skatepark is fun because of the diversity of lines created by its unique shape.
There are tons of boxes and ledges scattered around the Lions Skatepark. Some of the boxes have cement ledges and some of them have metal ledges. The boxes vary in height and difficulty level making it ideal for riders to improve their skills. And advanced skaters will see so much opportunity at this skatepark. Overall, this is a great skatepark for any skateboarder and I would highly recommend the visit if you are in the Fresno area.
