Longboarding at Oakdale Skatepark | Oakdale, California
Longboarding the Oakdale Skatepark is a fun experience because the large cement skatepark has a number of different transition types and bowls. This unique skatepark has a long skinny layout and provides a great environment for both street and vert skaters. Riders of any age or skill level will enjoy this park because there is a good variety in size and steepness of obstacles. I found that there are many features that make the Oakdale Skatepark great for skatepark longboarding.
First Impressions of Oakdale Skatepark:
Pros: The variety of features here is great!
Cons: None of the bowls have roll ins.

Riders Thoughts:
The Oakdale Skatepark is a great skatepark! The variety of obstacles makes this skatepark great for riders of any skill level. The flow and vert sections are great for longboarding in a skatepark. The long skinny layout creates an obvious flow through the skatepark. As riders make their way up and down a number of ramps they’ll pass a ton of obstacles and a number of different surface types.
The Oakdale Skatepark has a great diversity of boxes, ledges, ramps, rails, and a number of stair sets. Along with all of these obstacles there are a few really unique gaps that make this a really cool section for street skaters.
The ability to skate on small obstacles and gradually try larger and larger obstacles is a great way for beginners to build confidence and sharpen their skills. The flow of the long skatepark creates a great environment for linking tricks and making long lines using a combination of different features.
Along with being such a great street skatepark, the Oakdale Skatepark is home to a number of great bowls and vert skating opportunities. All of the bowls at the skatepark in Oakdale are very unique shapes and have some pretty cool features.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
All of these bowls are surrounded in full coping, making them great for dropping in which helps to start bowl runs with a lot of speed. This is ideal for skateboarders, but the coping and hard edges makes these bowls kind of hard to longboard in. But even when starting in the bowl just the unique shape of these bowls really makes it easy to build speed and maintain it for a long time.
There are three main bowls in the Oakdale Skatepark. The smallest of the three is a small green clover shaped bowl.
The medium of the three bowls features a large banked turn that feels almost like skating in a cradle. And the tight turns combined with the steep vert walls makes it possible to pick up speed quickly to get high on the walls.
From this aerial view it’s easy to see the true size of the Oakdale Skatepark and all of its obstacles. There is also plenty of space which is great because usually such a good skatepark has a lot of people.
Towards one end of the skatepark you can find an area that feels like a separate little skate plaza. It has a number of stair sets and rounded unique features. This area even has its own little bowl, fully lined in coping as well as a number of picnic tables.
Along with the smooth cement in the skatepark, there are a few other textures on the surface of the Oakdale Skatepark. I enjoyed wall rides on the angled exposed brick walls.
