Longboarding Bear River State Park
Our first time longboarding in Wyoming was at the Bear River State Park just past the Utah/Wyoming state line. This state park also happens to be the first rest stop on the US 80 going east into Wyoming. As we pulled off the interstate into Bear River State Park we saw buffalo in the meadow and it felt like they were welcoming us to Wyoming.
This park has a few paved trails, some dirt walking trails, as well as a couple picnic areas. This is not a huge park, but since the trails were paved I took the longboard out and went for a roll.
Quick Info: Bear River State Park
First impressions:
At first this park seems like a small picnic area with a meadow to view buffalo. The paved trail caught my eye so I followed. It was a smooth chill ride along the river.
Pros:
Chill relaxing ride with workout equipment to use.
Cons:
Not overly exciting.
Know before you go:
There is nature to be seen on walking trails, bring binoculars if you’d like to see the buffalo a bit better
How to get there:
Bear River State park is located right of interstate 80. Use exit 6 for Bear River Drive and follow the rest area signs.
Riders Thoughts:
This is a relaxing longboard ride alongside the Bear River. The smooth paved trail starts by winding through a forested area and then a meadow. The path follows the river and crosses at a bridge.
From the parking lot the trail goes under the interstate bridge via a pretty nice sized hill and continues to Bear River Ponds Park.
The trail has multiple workout stations along the path. This path is pretty level and smooth the entire way. The trail continues past the pond park, but does not go much further than that.
This trail was not breathtaking, but it is an enjoyable little loop that welcomed us to Wyoming. It was good to see buffalo and it felt good to get out of the truck and stretch the legs a little.
