Longboarding Frederick Skatepark | Huge Layout and Unique Features
The Frederick Skatepark is a very fun 30,000 sq. ft. concrete skatepark loaded with tons of great unique skating features. This skatepark was created by the town of Frederick and Team Pain Skateparks. The colors and high quality art all around this Colorado skatepark set a fun vibe, making a cool experience for riders of any skill level. The welcoming tiki statue starts the fun and creative atmosphere of the skatepark as soon as you pull in the parking lot!
The little tiki guy here is riding a longboard and I thought that was a sign this was going to be a good skatepark for some cement surfing!

The first thing you notice at the Frederick Skatepark is the bright colors, creative artwork and the exaggerated skating features of the street section.
Pros: A lot of street features, big vert area, and little bowl.
Cons: Nothing to put here!

Riders Thoughts:
The Frederick Skatepark is a very unique and fun skatepark for so many different reasons. The unique layout of the skatepark is broken apart into three different sections connected by a cement sidewalk path on the side of the grassy hill. The three sections are: The Street Section, The Little Bowl, and The Big Vert Area.
The Street Section
The bottom of the hill is home to the 18,500 sq. ft. cement street section of the Frederick Skatepark. The street section has a very large triangle(ish) shape loop with connecting cement areas in the middle.
The flat area in the middle feels like a solid street plaza. And the giant ice cream cone is a very unique mini loop obstacle that adds a lot of character to the skatepark.
The cement here is very smooth and the array of obstacles, banked turns, and transitions all around the perimeter provide a good flow to the street section of the skatepark.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
Riders will find a number of boxes, ledges, walls, rails, and ramps all around this area of the Frederick Skatepark. There are so many obstacles and they all vary in size and difficulty levels. Beginners will enjoy learning the basics here and build the confidence to try some of the small obstacles. Intermediate riders will have plenty of opportunity to improve and try new things. Pro level athletes would have a field day here with plenty to play on.
Another very unique feature of the Frederick Skatepark is the two full pipes! Yes, full pipes.. like a halfpipe but all the way around making a full pipe. Brightly colored artwork draws attention to the pipes from the street section. Playing in these pipes can give riders a whole new skating experience, but it will take an advanced rider to actually do something cool in here. The only other full pipe we have seen at a skatepark is in Laramie, Wyoming.
Little Bowl
The little bowl at the Frederick Skatepark is a 1,500 sq. ft. bean shaped bowl with a 6 foot deep end and a 4 foot shallow end. The little bowl is halfway up the hill from the street area and is very pool inspired and lined in round cement coping
The Big Vert Area of Frederick Skatepark
The big vert area is, by far, my favorite part of the Frederick Skatepark for cement surfing. The big vert area consists of one giant 10,000 sq. ft. cement bowl. The bowl has a variety of depths but most of the bowl sits about 6-7 feet down. The bowl has a very unique shape a features a number of different sized and shaped pockets.
The floor drops about 3 feet which makes the deepest pocket of the bowl about 10 feet deep. This area of the bowl features a rounded cement coping around the lip. The entire bowl has a great flow and the layout makes it easy for riders to enter this bowl at a high speed to get high on the walls.
The large bowl also has an elongated twinkie hump with smooth transitions which is great for pumping and building speed through out a run. This obstacle has a great placement and transitions which makes it easy to approach from any angle of the bowl.
The shallow end of the bowl features a pair of “u” shaped bowls connected with a metal spine. This spine is a great feature. I really like the way the designers left a smooth transitioned gap between the spine and the edge of the bowl. This allows riders to keep a great flow without having to go over the spine. This part of the skatepark reminds me of another great Team Pain skatepark in Leadville Colorado
No matter your skill level, if you enjoy skateparks then you will definitely enjoy a skate session at the Frederick Skatepark. There is such a good variety of obstacles here and the features range in size from very small to very large making it great for learning, strengthening skills, and a blast for experts!
