Longboarding in Wyoming | Laramie River Greenbelt
At this point in our travels we were simply driving through Wyoming. Wyoming is a hard state to drive through and not take the time to explore! But we knew we’d get back here someday. For a brief stop on our travels through Wyoming we grabbed our longboards and hit the Laramie River Greenbelt Trail.
Longboarding the Laramie River Greenbelt
The Laramie River Greenbelt is a 6 mile paved trail along the Laramie River in the city of Laramie. At the beginning of the paved path is a nice park that has this nice paved path, a playground, dog park, picnic area, and a spot to fish in the river!
We started Laramie River Greenbelt paved path at the park near the playground. And we noticed that there was a small beach area to swim in the river. The trail is pretty level with a few twists and turns. To begin, the path winds through the park and parallels the river on mostly smooth blacktop.
Most of the trail is in good condition but there are a few big cracks that could do some damage to a longboarder.
The Laramie River Greenbelt trail continues on the streets and in the bike lane briefly through a neighborhood. Then it reconnects with the trail by a bridge. We encountered a few wood plank bridges along the way.
The trail also goes under the road a couple of times, allowing you to skate under a few bridges. The sun was setting fast upon us, so we didn’t have time to follow the whole trail. We made it to a loop section of the trail. This part had a slight downgrade and some curves.
At some point along this trail I busted some bearings on my board. The bearings were a few years old and the backing of the bearing and all the balls fell out.. kind of messed up my trucks, but not too bad.
Overall, the Laramie River Greenbelt Trail was a great trail to cruise on the longboards. With the exception of some major cracks in the trail it was a smooth ride and the scenery was enjoyable! Looking forward to our further adventures in Wyoming.
