Los Altos Skatepark in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Los Altos Skatepark in New Mexico is a huge concrete skate playground! Measuring up around 35,000 sq. ft., this concrete skatepark in Albuquerque has a variety of skate features that will surely entertain any skater. I found the flow and transitions here make for some great cement surfing! Grab your skateboard or whatever wheels you prefer and check it out with us! I enjoyed riding my longboard in this skatepark for sure.

First Impressions: Los Altos Skatepark in New Mexico

The large size and layout of this skatepark in New Mexico made an impression on us when we first walked through the entrance way arch.

Pros: A little bit of everything: bowls, street, and vert features. Skateboards, scooters, skates, or longboards can all skate here.

Cons: No roll ins on any of the bowls.

Know Before You Go: YES, lights for riding at night! And you got most of the standard skatepark rules apply here. The park has varied seasonal hours of operation:

• Summer Hours (May – August)
  7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Winter Hours (September – April)
  9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Riders Thoughts: Los Altos Skatepark in New Mexico

The Los Altos Skatepark has a large open layout with all sorts of unique features and obstacles. There are a variety of ramps, stairs, and quarter pipes that drop down to the main area. Inside this area riders will find a number of pyramids and features to skate on. The banked walls and smooth transitions provide a fun flow in this area, and the scattered features can spark riders to get creative with their lines.

Street skaters will find a bunch of boxes, ledges, and rails all around the park. These features come in a variety of sizes, which provides riders with plenty things to try and a good opportunity to gradually improve ones skills.

Along with plenty of ramps and quarter pipes, the park also has a large 5 stair set that leads down to the main skate area where you can find some art. We have seen some skateparks covered in artwork, but this one has just a few pieces of artwork and some blue colors that add to the simple character of the park. The surrounding mountain landscape also adds to the character of the park!

The Los Altos Skatepark also has a bunch of bowls for the vert riders! The first bowls is a steep clover bowl with some pretty unique features. The bowl has a different depth in each pocket with a rounded hump transition in the middle. The pockets in this bowl are all different – one is short and round, one is deep and round, and the other is a deep rounded corner square pocket. All of the walls in this bowl are very steep, which makes it a pretty advanced bowl.

The big bowl at the Los Altos Skatepark is very unique with a funny shape and a bunch of cool features. The bowl has two large deep pockets that share a spine and a rounded hump transition along with two other pockets in a long larger shallow section. There are also a few hips and other unique features that make this bowl different than most bowls we’ve seen.

Along with the street and big vert sections, there is also a smaller flowy section of the skatepark. This area has a some large rounded features that provide smooth transitions and flow to the skatepark. The smooth transitions on all sides of these features make them fun to use from any angle and help add some speed to riders lines around the park.
