Los Osos Skatepark on California’s Central Coast
The Los Osos Skatepark is a nice skatepark located in Los Osos Community Park. It has a pretty open layout with some tall vert, a couple bowls and lots of banked turns and smooth transitions. This skatepark is great for some mellow cement surfing on longboard, for shredding the pool bowl, and it’s an all around great place to learn the basics of skateboarding.
If you’re in the area, there are a few other Central Coast skateparks that are worth visiting. San Luis Obispo Skatepark is a great option! You’ll find unique features, bowls of varying shapes and sizes, and a legit street section. Templeton has a nice skatepark facility as well that includes a large bowl, smooth transitions and some ramps. Or check out the impressive array of obstacles at the Paso Robles Skatepark. The wide variety of features makes it a great skatepark for numerous skater types.
First Impression of the Los Osos Skatepark:
The Los Osos Skatepark is a fun skatepark that provides a good amount of vert and smooth transitions. The open layout of the park is great for riders of any skill level and variety of steepness is great for building confidence if you’re still learning.
Pros:
Many smooth transitions and a couple bowls
Cons:
Lack of street obstacles
Know Before You Go:
The skatepark is fenced in and hours are enforced. According to the SLO County Parks website, the Los Osos Skatepark is open daily from 12 pm – dusk. During our last visit in 10/2020 the posted hours were 12 pm- 5 pm. Also good to know – the morning dew is VERY slick in the shadows and on the areas where the graffiti has been painted over.

Riders Thoughts:
The Los Osos Skatepark is a mellow skatepark. Most of the skatepark has a pretty open layout and sits down in a very large bowl area. Riders can enter this large bowl area a number of different ways. A rider can drop in, go down one of the ramps, or take advantage of the roll in areas.
The tall walls and banked turns in this skatepark are ideal for cruising on a longboard because the shape of the banked turns allow riders to build up a lot of speed. And the tall vert walls allow riders to comfortably maintain their speed while pumping through the turns. This large bowl area also has a pretty good horseshoe turn that creates a great half pipe.
While cruising around the flat cement perimeter riders will find a couple rails on one side of the skatepark which leads over to another small bowl. This small bowl is surrounded in a smooth transitioned roll in, making it great for riders to roll in at any angle. Once inside, it has a shallow and a deeper side. I found this bowl to be a lot of fun because the shape and the banked turns make it easy to switch up your flow and ride the bowl in the other direction.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now!
The back wall of the Los Osos Skatepark has a couple levels and is where everyone sits and puts their backpacks and stuff. Along this back wall is also where you can find a drinking fountain.
There are two bowls on the south side of the skatepark. Both of these bowls are pretty deep and surrounded in full coping. These bowls are ideal for experienced skaters that enjoy shredding a pool.
Overall the Los Osos Skatepark is a pretty mellow skatepark, but the steep vert provides advanced skaters with opportunity to shred pretty hard.
