New Las Vegas Pump Track at Sun Trails Park | Sunstone Pump Track
The new Las Vegas Pump Track has a tricky name, the sign says Sun Trails Bike Track but also calls it the Avid Pump Track. And it’s located within Sunstone Community in North Las Vegas. But whatever you want to call it, it’s fun and free! This Las Vegas pump track is about 7,500 square foot so it’s easy to spend hours here. According to the sign, this track is made for riding bikes on a pump track, but I was able to make fun work of it while riding the longboard on the pump track.

First Impressions: Sunstone Pump Track
Pros: There are a lot of intersections and routes to choose from in this unique layout.
Cons: Rough surface makes it kind of slow, and there are a few steep rollers that bottom out the longboard.
Directions: Click here to get directions to Sun Trails Park.
Know Before You Go: Bathrooms are locked. You need a code to get in but we couldn’t guess it… There are lights all over the park, but not right over the pump track. We were here during the day so I’m not sure of the night riding conditions. Sun Trails Park also has picnic shelters with phone charging stations, and a really nice play ground and swings. Also, the park is in the middle of a new neighborhood with good, smooth downhill roads for longboarding!

Riders Thoughts:
We’re so excited to hear that there is a new pump track in Las Vegas! So we went to North Las Vegas and we liked what we found! This The Sunstone Pump Track is a little bit bigger with a total different layout than the nearby Floyd Lamb Pump Track. One thing both of these Las Vegas pump tracks share is a beautiful mountain backdrop!

The 7,500 sq ft of asphalt track make for a number of unique routes to skate. And the intersections provide an engaging ride along the way!

On the first lap it seems you have no idea where you’re going. For instance, the first turn can be taken three different ways. If it’s your first time visiting Sunstone Pump Track you can be really unsure about what is on the other side of that decision until you experience a few laps and learn the unique layout of this pump track. There are few advanced features here such as steep rollers and harsh transitions that can make parts of this track challenging for inexperienced riders.

One of my favorite features of the Sunstone pump track is the repeat “S” turns where riders really get a feeling of surfing the asphalt! You can see me in the “S” turn on the right side of the photo below. From this birds eye view, you can tell just how large the Sun Trails pump track really is.

Shred it Later – Pin it Now

The Sunstone pump track has some quirky features that make it a very unique ride and experience. Some of the turns don’t flow as well as you’d expect when riding and some times you really have to ride on a steep slope to avoid the gravel.

Close to the picnic tables and the “Sun Trails Bike Track – Avid Pump Track” signs there is a section of the pump track that makes a great beginners section/loop. The mellow features of this section make it great for the little ones, but this area can transition to/from the other section of the pump track easily.

Las Vegas has a great skate scene with tons of skateparks, streets, ditches, and pump tracks. I’d have to say that this Sunstone Pump Track at Sun Trails park is a great addition to the line up of great skate spots to hit!
