North Beardsley Skatepark in Bakersfield | Fun and Compact

The North Beardsley Skatepark in Bakersfield is a cool little concrete skatepark made by Spohn Ranch. Riders of any skill level will find many usable obstacles here, mostly ranging in small to medium features. This skatepark opened in 2018 and encompasses about 8,000 square feet. Upon first glance, you’ll notice there’s an oil pump sculpture at the entrance of the skatepark paying tribute to the roots of this area’s history. First Impressions of North Beardsley Skatepark:

When we first got here we noticed that the North Beardsley Skatepark is very clean and in great condition! The brick pillars and black fence contrast the bright green field turf that surrounds the colored concrete skatepark making this whole skatepark look really nice.

Pros: Good flow, street obstacles, and a small bowl

Cons: A little too compact for a longboard.

Know Before You Go: The skatepark has lights for night riding. And the rest of the North Beardsley Park has picnic tables, ball fields, a playground, bathrooms, drinking fountains, and plenty of room for other park activities.

Riders Thoughts:

The North Beardsley Skatepark in Bakersfield is great for skaters of any skill level. I found that the mellow features of this park flow together pretty well and the park provides a few different transition types.

Around the skatepark riders can find a variety of ramps at different lengths and angles as well as a nice variety in quarter pipe sizes. This variety helps riders gradually improve their skills from the small to large obstacles. This skatepark features a number of boxes, ledges, and rails scattered around the park.

The North Beardsley Skatepark features a pretty legit six step staircase with tall ledges on either side and a rail in the middle. The stairs and ramps lead from the top platform down to the flat open area of the skatepark. Here you’ll find some rounded humps that actually add some nice flow to the park.

Shred it Later – Pin it Now

The center feature in the North Beardsley Skatepark is a 5-7 foot uniquely shaped round bowl. This standalone bowl is surrounded with a metal ledge all the way around.

This bowl is build kind of like an above ground pool. The concrete goes up about 3 feet from the ground making for a platform area on one side of the bowl and a mellow angled ramp on the other side.

Attached to the angled side of the bowl there is a short wide box feature. This box is short, making it a very fun and useable feature. The mellow angle of this banked wall is great for a wall ride over the wide box.

Overall the North Beardsley Skatepark in Bakersfield is a really nice, fun skatepark with a good amount of flow and a bunch of obstacles for traditional street skaters. I was able to cruise around this park, but it was just a little too compact for me to do a whole lot with my longboard.
