Richfield Pump Track | Longboarding the Best Pump Track in Utah
The small, friendly community of Richfield is now the proud home of the best pump track in Utah! After exploring numerous skateparks and several other pump tracks in Utah, this facility tops the charts. I had so much fun longboarding the Richfield Pump Track! And in person the excitement and appreciation for this new Velosolutions pump track is tangible.
The Richfield Pump Track is a prime example of a Velosolutions Pump Track. It’s got smooth asphalt, smooth transitions, banked turns, and great flow. Plus this particular pump track happens to be huge! The feeling of endless waves and flow makes this a perfect place for riding a Lost Coast Longboarding longboard!

Know Before You Go: The Richfield Pump Track is located inside the larger Centennial Park. Here you can find a disc golf course, a playground, bathrooms, and picnic shelter. While we were visiting, we heard rumors that there may be a dirt mountain bike track added in the future. The Richfield Pump Track is open dawn to dusk with no lights for night riding.
Riders Thoughts: Best Pump Track in Utah
The Richfield Pump Track is a huge pump track that supplies riders with a fun, fast, and flowy experience. For someone new to pump tracks, this track may look a bit intimidating. It’s so big you may not even know where or how to get started. It’s best to start on the large flat area, and you can actually roll in almost anywhere you’re comfortable. Starting on the large flat area is good because you have an opportunity to get your feet situated on your board before you roll into the track. Then from there you should be able to use your momentum to push you along without having to kick at all. There is an almost endless amount of routes to take once your on the track.
After riding around the track a few times I learned that there seems to be a large track that zig-zags around and loops back into itself, and a little loop on the side of that. The smooth transitions around the track allow riders to roll into the Richfield Pump Track almost anywhere. Then they should be able to keep going for as long as their legs can push them. The humps in this pump track vary in size and can be used to push yourself really fast.
The speed created by these humps can allow riders to carry their momentum high into the large banked turns around the track. There are a number of different large banked turns in the Richfield Pump Track. Some are a little larger than others and some of the turns are a little tighter. This variety makes for a fun experience and keeps it exciting so it doesn’t feel like you’re doing the same thing over and over.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now!
Some pump tracks have painted arrows that direct the flow of traffic but this one does not. There is no “wrong way” and the layout of this track allows riders to change their route easily. So you have the freedom to choose/create your lines. But remember to stay alert and be aware of the other people using the track to avoid accidents.
The builders have filled in the areas between the asphalt track with a soft rubber surface which is great for absorbing impact and reducing the risk of scrapes and injury if you should fall off the asphalt. Along the perimeter of the pump track there are a lot of rocks. Be aware because sometimes these rocks end up on the track.
The two back turns of the Richfield Pump Track have tall wood extensions that make the banked turns very large. These extensions are made for bikes. While we were here we witnessed a number of mountain bikes as well as BMX bikes using these features.
The size, smoothness, and layout of the Richfield Pump Track are the main reasons I think this is the best pump track in Utah, especially for longboarding. I like how many areas of the park are wide enough for multiple people while riding. Also, the way the humps are connected make it easy to go fast and change direction or routes on the fly to avoid traffic and other riders.
Another great features of the Richfield Pump Track are the straightaways. These are helpful for learning how a pump track works. They’re also good for beginners and avoiding the banked turns if the rider is not ready for sharp turns. When you arrive at the pump track it’s a good idea to watch the other riders there. Take note of the traffic flow and see the lines other riders are taking before you jump in. Some of the advanced features in this pump track may be difficult for inexperienced longboarders. But once you are comfortable and confident of your abilities this is a great place for longboarding endless waves!
