Scott Carpenter Skatepark | Best Skatepark in Boulder
Scott Carpenter Skatepark in Boulder, Colorado is a large 21,000 sq. ft. cement skatepark paradise covered in art and graffiti. Most of this skatepark was built in 1999 by Site Design Group with an expansion by Evergreen Skateparks in 2021. This skatepark has a ton of vert transitions and some large bowls with a little bit of something for every style of skater. The large banked turns and smooth transitions make this a fun place for longboarding in a skatepark, making this (in my opinion) the best skatepark in Boulder.
First Impressions:
Pros: Large skatepark with lots of great vert and bowls.
Cons: No skatepark lights.

Riders Thoughts: Scott Carpenter Skatepark
Scott Carpenter Skatepark is arguably the best skatepark in Boulder for a few reasons. The main reason is simply the layout and size of the skatepark. Plus it is filled with great obstacles and features in every corner of the park. The graffiti and artwork also sets a very unique vibe and atmosphere with color and designs in every direction.
No matter your style, around this Boulder Skatepark you’re sure to find some sort of artwork you like. And it’s probably mixed between some positive and maybe some not so positive graffiti. Either way you’ll have fun finding new artwork as you skate around. And if you’re not a fan of the graffiti on the cement, just look up and appreciate the beautiful backdrop of the Rocky Mountains!
If you skate around the perimeter of the skatepark you’ll find a number of boxes, ledges, and ramps. And on your tour around the park you can see down into all the bowls and vert areas. The perimeter leads down to the main section of the skatepark via a few ramps or a drop from any of the large quarter pipes or ledges. All around the Scott Carpenter Skatepark, athletes will find cement and metal ledges, as well as a bunch of areas with coping.
More About the Layout
There are many smooth transitions throughout the entire skatepark that make for some great cement surfing on the longboard. Longboarding the Scott Carpenter Skatepark is really fun! Especially when your speed is carried down the steep ramps and maintained though the large banked turns and rounded pockets.
Near the middle of the floor in the main bowl area riders will find a pyramid structure with a number of ramps, boxes, ledges, and a rail. The smooth ramps on this feature help link the two sides of the large bowl by providing riders with a small downhill in the middle of their run.
The main bowl area has a ton of walls, banked turns, and rounded pockets that really add a lot of flow to this skatepark. Riders really can go any direction and find a cool feature that will keep their line going and lead them forward towards more features, all while easily maintaining a high speed.
One of my favorite parts of this awesome Boulder Skatepark is the large clover(ish) shaped bowl in the back of the park. This bowl is great!! This is a large bowl with a variety of depths and each pocket has it’s own shape. These shapes are great for getting high on the walls and pumping speed into the next pocket. This bowl has a ton of different depths to drop in from, ranging from about 2 feet all the way to about 10 feet. And if you don’t feel like dropping in, this bowl also features a roll in! This was a great way to enter the bowl on a longboard with speed, making this bowl very shreddable!
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
The 5000 sq. ft. Evergreen addition adds some flow and street features to the front corner of the Scott Carpenter Skatepark. You can tell this part is new because it is not yet taken over by graffiti. The transitions and flow of this section have a very clear Evergreen style and feel. The flow of this area makes it very natural to link the different parts of the skatepark together in a single line.
You can find a few different skateparks in Boulder, Colorado, but this one might be the best. This park has so much flow and so many transitions all over, making it a great place for riding a longboard in a skatepark. Riders of any skill level will have fun at the Scott Carpenter Skatepark. There are a ton of features that range in size and the layout of the park has a great flow. Pros or advanced riders will surely have a great time at this skatepark.
