Directions:
This skate park in Reno Nevada has a sign that says Rattlesnake Mountain Skate Park, but Google will tell you that it is called Mira Loma Skate Park. Either way, it is the skate park located at 2692 S McCarran Blvd in Reno, NV 89502.
The parking lot of this skate park is set up kind of tricky… You can only turn into the parking lot if you are traveling north on S. McCarran Blvd. That being said, if you are driving south you have to drive to the stoplight past the skate park and do a U-turn. Then come back up the road to turn into the parking lot. Also, when you leave the park its a right turn only.
Riders Thoughts:
Rattlesnake Skate Park in Reno is a very big park. When you leave the parking lot and enter the skate park there is almost an overwhelming feeling of “where do I start?” Riding the smooth pavement around the perimeter of the park allows you to see each corner of the park and the features throughout. There are many smooth and banked turns around the corners of the park.
Bowls :
The north side of the park has 6 separate bowls! These bowls include a long rectangular bowl and two smaller bowls surrounded in coping and sharing spines between each. The smallest of the three bowls is only about 2 feet deep, which is great for learning to drop in and getting the hang of dealing with the coping. This bowl shares a spine with the next bowl. This next bowl is deeper than the first bowl but not as deep as the larger third bowl. This difference in bowl depth is a great way to gradually improve skate skills. The alignment of these three bowls from shallowest to deepest is a genius way to help riders improve their abilities as well as confidence.
This side of the park also features a very large and deep bowl surrounded in coping. This bean shaped bowl is probably 10 to 15 feet deep with one side being shallower than the other side. The cement in this bowl is a bit sketchy because some of the walls are a bit tore up.
This bowl is unique because of its depth. The builders of the park built the cement up about 5 feet all the way around the bowl to add depth. This wall structure around the bowl is cool because they also made the wall curved with a smooth transition to the level ground.
In addition to the these bowls with coping there is a smaller but steep circle bowl featuring a smooth roll-in all the way around. From this side of the park the next bowl is the large and deep section of the snake bowl.
The entire snake bowl features smooth rounded roll ins along all edges, which makes for a fun transition or roll in from any angle of the park. A rider can enter the beginning of the snake bowl from the south and flat section of the park and build up speed as the bowl winds around and gets deeper along the way.
Street Section:
The south end of the park is the street section.. This side of the park is very open with a few large boxes in the middle. There are a number of rails, ledges, lips, and stairs for the street skaters.
An eye catching obstacle on this end of the park is the very large vert wall on the east side of the park. I have not seen anyone drop in on this vert ramp, but it would be fun to watch. The ramp is probably about 10ft at
the top with a red guard rail all along the top.
In this corner of the park there is a great banked turn with a rounded plateau in the middle.

There are ramps on every side of this open area giving riders the ability to carry their speed into the park from the perimeter. The park has a rather abstract shape which is great for the banked turns and variety of depths and steepness throughout the park.
More About the Rattlesnake Skate Park in Reno
The back side of the snake bowl has a smooth transition from the floor to the wall which makes for a number of banked turns to get around in the park. There is a number of deeper areas through this side of the park with coping.
I find this park very fun because of the transitions between ramps and bowls. There are many smooth transitions that change your elevation which allows a rider to turn this park into a kind of pump track. And there are many lines to travel in any direction in this park. This park has a variety of obstacles from small beginner rails and bowls, to very large and steep obstacles that only a very experienced rider would use. The size of the park also spreads out the traffic well. There may be a bunch of people in this park but because they are so spread out it is not an issue.
This park is also lit at night! The lighting is not great, but definitely good enough to skate in. When we have skated here at night there are very few or no people at all.
Longboarding in Reno :
If you are in the Reno area and have your longboard with you, you should also know that there are many good neighborhoods to longboard in. Our friend OJ took us up Mt. Rose highway towards Tahoe to longboard some of these neighborhoods.
Some of these roads are better than others. But the setting of these neighborhoods is on a large slope going up towards Tahoe so they are all pretty good for longboarding. We happened to pick a neighborhood that was still under construction so traffic was minimal, but there was some gravel.
If you plan on exploring these areas I suggest you bring your safety gear, at least a helmet and slide gloves.
