Scenic Camping Near Mt Shavano | Shavano Wildlife Area
Whether you're looking for a scenic area to get away or for some dispersed camping near Mt Shavano for ease of bagging this 14er, camping at Shavano Wildlife Area is a great choice. Some of the camp spots are tucked into the junipers while others are more open and spread out. And almost all of the spots have incredible vast, mountain views. This scenic dispersed camping area is no secret though so plan accordingly, especially on weekends.

Free Camping Near Oatman – Burros and Historic Mining Areas
Visit an old mining town, take a selfie with the local burros and experience a scenic section of Route 66 while taking advantage of free camping near Oatman! Or just enjoy the peace of the desert, good winter weather and the great surrounding desert scenery. Our favorite part about camping near Oatman had to be the occasional encounters with wild burros! And of course, walking the random roads and washes finding beautiful vistas and random desert stuff.

Free Camping Near the Sierra Buttes | Gold Lake Highway
After spending some time exploring the northern Gold Lake Highway in Plumas National Forest, we still had more to see and we weren't quite ready to leave the area. So that's when we headed to the southern section of Gold Lake Highway in Tahoe National Forest. And we were stoked to find that there were actually options for free camping near the Sierra Buttes. To find this spot, we actually asked some rangers about any dispersed camping in the area and they pointed us to this spot.

Free Camping Near Sloat | McDermott Ravine Road
Across the 89 in Plumas National Forest we found several good dispersed camp spots on the McDermott Ravine Forest Road . Many of the spots in this area are among the pretty wooded area with a mix of manzanita, conifers and oaks. We found this spot to be a bit off the beaten path yet easily accessible and we met a local who pointed us in the direction of the local Sloat swim hole on the Feather River!

Backpacking Oh Be Joyful is an incredible adventure near Crested Butte. The trail leads through the lush, colorful Oh Be Joyful Valley and splits to two gorgeous destinations: Blue Lake and Oh Be Joyful Pass. Both are unbelievably scenic and beautiful!

There are a variety of things to do in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park that provide an opportunity to experience a truly incredible geologic beauty. This spectacular canyon is a dramatic and beautiful result of the Gunnison River carving and shaping the Earth over a two million year span. It is definitely a sight to see and appreciate.

We had no idea how much we were going to enjoy camping near Mayer, Arizona! Honestly we didn't know the town of Mayer existed and had no idea we were going to be camping nearby for two weeks. Laguna Mountain Camping | Free BLM Campgrounds
We were stoked to find free camping near Pinnacles National Park! About forty minutes from Pinnacles, between Highway 25 and Coalinga is Laguna Mountain Recreation Area. And here you'll find two developed BLM campgrounds that are unbelievably nice!
