Camping Near Lolo Montana
From Missoula we headed into the Lolo National Forest to find dispersed camping near Lolo. A few forest roads later we found a great place to boondock! Our new home was situated in a beautiful forested valley right next to South Fork Lolo Creek and a wide open meadow. This spot ended up being very peaceful, quiet and tranquil.

Camping Near Boise at Swan Falls
We stumbled upon Swan Falls Dam free camping when we were looking for free camping near Boise. All of the Swan Falls designated camping is tucked way down at the bottom of canyon. There are towering 700 feet cliff walls on either side of the canyon and the Snake River runs through it.

Camping at Volcanic Tablelands Near Bishop CA
As you're travelling along the 395 you'll come to the town of Bishop California. This is a great home base for the never ending recreation opportunities in the surrounding area. And luckily, there are several options for camping in Bishop. Camping at Volcanic Tablelands is a great option if you're looking for the perfect mix of peace and quiet, beautiful scenery and adventure!

Hiking and Camping at Fossil Falls
As you're travelling along an undeveloped portion of the US-395 between Ridgecrest and Lone Pine, you can't help but see the towering wall of the Sierra Nevadas to your west. But to the east there is a less obvious yet stunning geologic feature called Fossil Falls.

Checking Out Big Timber Montana
After camping near Red Lodge, hiking to Mystic Lake and longboarding Beartooth Highway we continued west through Montana. Next stop was Big Timber Montana, a small town just south of the Crazy Mountains.

Camping at Trona Pinnacles
Hidden in an area seemingly in the middle of nowhere between the southern tip of the Sierras and Death Valley National Park lie the Trona Pinnacles. Trona Pinnacles are giant spire-like geological formations known as tufas. It is amazing how they tower about the desert floor and it is even more amazing that the area was completely underwater at one time!

Camping Near Bozeman – Hyalite Canyon
A quick half hour drive from Bozeman will lead you to the mouth of beautiful Hyalite Canyon. From here you'll meander along the curves of Hyalite Creek as it snakes through the pretty forested canyon. Turn onto Jeep Road and notice the numbered designated Forest Service camp sites.

Camping in the Black Hills
We left the hustle and bustle of Rapid City to go explore the Black Hills. As we were looking for a dispersed camp spot, we ventured onto Forest Road 672 and found a peaceful spot near a pretty meadow. We settled in on the outskirts of the meadow and we were surrounded by green forested hillsides.

Camping Near the Badlands National Park
The Badlands in South Dakota are one of my absolute favorite places ever. So needless to say we were thrilled to find free camping near Badlands National Park. Not only was the camping free but the setting, the view and the whole experience was just priceless
