Hiking in Crested Butte | Hiking Teocalli Peak
Hiking Teocalli Peak is a steep, challenging adventure to a very rewarding summit! The views from atop Teocalli are truly incredible - extremely beautiful, vast and surprisingly colorful. We had done a bit of hiking in the Crested Butte area but we had yet to experience a Colorado summit. And there are so many trails and peaks to choose from in the area! We were really happy with our decision to hike Teocalli Peak.

Red Mountain Trail is a short hike though junipers that ends at an amazing cinder cone! After a volcanic explosion, a large natural amphitheater was formed with nearly vertical 800 feet walls. The erosion over time has created amazing hoodoo fomations and awesome side canyons to check out!

Hiking to O’Leary Lookout | Flagstaff, AZ
Just north of Flagstaff is a super interesting landscape shaped by volcanic activity. For an excellent vast view of this volcanic landscape and to get a glimpse into the top of Sunset Crater itself, hiking to O'Leary Lookout is a must. O'Leary Lookout is just outside of Sunset Crater Volcanic National Monument so there is no entrance fee and the trail is lightly trafficked. Besides the great panoramic views and steep workout, visiting the fire lookout tower at the top is a rewarding perk of the climb!

Wupatki National Monument is about 56 square miles of dry, rugged land on the southwestern Colorado Plateau. Among this land are the protected remains of the ancient dwellings of puebloan peoples. Walk the trails at Wupatki National Monument and read the information signs along the way to get a better picture of the lives and history that were a part of this area.
