We were excited to see more of the beauty within the Eagles Nest Wilderness! We were looking for a chill adventure and hiking to Boulder Lake ended up being just what we were looking for and more. It was a much shorter, milder hike than we've been tackling lately but still incredibly scenic. And our surprise wildlife counter is an experience we'll never forget!

Go during the week to experience solitude as you explore the three beautiful high elevation lakes that make up North Halfmoon Lakes. And after a gorgeous day of exploring the lakes, sleep lakeside and enjoy the stunning display of stars. Then enjoy a challenge as the marmots and pika keep you company on your way to the summit of Mount Massive. And the views from the top… worth every step.

Since we were camped about a mile from the Beckwith Pass Trailhead, we thought we would check it out. We figured we couldn't go wrong with a pass hike. Or any hike in the mountains of Colorado really. Although it wasn't quite what we expected, the best part of the hike was when we experienced the unexpected.
