Riders Thoughts: Tanzanite Skatepark
Tanzanite Skatepark is a large skatepark with a fun layout of several bowls and a great street sections with a variety of obstacles.
Street Section
The street section of the Tanzanite Skatepark consists of stairs, boxes, and rails that lead up to an open platform area for street tricks. This platform area is half of the entire street section.
And then there are ramps and stairs leading down to another large box/rail/ramp where the skatepark continues up to more boxes.
First Bowl
The first bowl at the Tanzanite Skatepark is a small bowl with three pockets. This shallow bowl features a hump and a smooth transition roll in with coping surrounding most of the bowl. It is a great bowl for someone learning to ride in a bowl. The bowl is shallow but the banked turns and smooth transitions offer a great opportunity to get the feel of riding vert.
The smooth roll in made this bowl fun to ride in with a longboard, and the shape of the pockets allow a rider to pump and maintain speed in the bowl.
Second Bowl
The second bowl is the largest of the bowls at Tanzanite Skatepark. To me, this bowl is the highlight of the skatepark. This large bowl features 8+ foot vert walls with a variety of banked turns and smooth transitions in every direction.
The shape of this bowl has four main pockets with a few rounded corners and a tall round pocket. The unique shape of this bowl makes it easy for a rider to build and maintain speed throughout their entire run.
This bowl was a lot of fun for me to ride in with a longboard! And this was possible because of the multiple roll in opportunities. There is a roll in on both sides of the bowl and the tall vert walls make the ride fast right from the beginning.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
These roll in areas are great, but they are a bit technical and can be tricky. One side is tricky because there is a short drop before the actual drop which can bottom out your board and mess with your footing a bit.
The other side of the bowl is tricky because you have to roll down a short banked pocket, then roll into the big bowl at an angle. This is a very unique roll in into a bowl – it’s fun but tricky. I’ve never seen a roll-in like this before so it was fun and scary to experience.
Third Bowl
After this large main bowl, there is yet another bowl. This bowl is a large, deep, three pocket bowl. This bowl is similar to a pool bowl with the rounded pockets and full coping.
The steepness and depth of this bowl make it great for experienced skateboarders, but I think it would be intimidating for most.
Thanks for Checking Out the Tanzanite Skatepark!
Overall the Tanzanite Skatepark is a great skatepark! It gives riders multiple opportunities to ride a variety of vert and bowls. The skatepark also provides a great street section with a lot of ledges and stairs. The large ramps and flow goes downhill in either direction of the park. I would recommend this skatepark for any rider with any type of wheels. And I would recommend the small bowl for anyone learning to ride a longboard in a skatepark
