Temecula Pump Track | Ronald Reagan Sports Park

When we stopped to check out the skatepark in Temecula we were stoked to find that the Temecula Pump Track is right next to it! Not only is the skatepark huge with a cool cement hill but it’s right next to an AMAZING pump track – this combination is a cement surfers’ paradise!

The Temecula pump track was built in 2019 by Velosolutions which then opened in the Fall of 2019. Velosolutions are also who made this awesome pump track that we visited in Broomfield. This pump track in Temecula is over 600 feet of smooth asphalt shaped into a looping circuit full of humps and banked turns to allow for continuous pumping!

The Temecula Pump Track can be used by bikes of any kind, scooters, skateboards and longboards. For bikers, Velosolutions incorporated a special wooden wallride to add to the excitement of the pump track. Riders of all ages and skill levels will love this new attraction.

As you probably know, there are a lot more skateparks around than pump tracks so we were excited to have the opportunity to check it out!

Riders Thoughts:

The Temecula pump track is one of the best that we have had the opportunity to surf on. This particular pump track is this good for a variety of reasons, but mainly because of its size.

We were lucky enough to be some of the first people to ride the Temecula Pump Track, but because of that we had to deal with the track being under construction in one part. This created an obstacle and disrupted the flow of the track forcing riders to detour or end their route. Besides that, this pump track is AMAZING!! Like I said, the size of the pump track helps to make it great.

The pump track starts with a few small humps in a row giving riders a feel for riding on a pump track. For experienced riders, these small humps give you the opportunity to build speed into the first “S” turn. These turns are soo much fun on a longboard! When moving fast, riders can get high enough on these walls to become horizontal before descending and switching directions through the second half of the turn. This truly feels like surfing on the cement.

For this style of riding it is helpful to have a flexible longboard that allows you to pump, as well as twist with the transitions of the track (see photo below.) Check out which longboards we recommend for pumping here.

You can’t help but notice the large wood wall behind this back turn. This feature is made for BMX bikes to go faster and ride higher than the pavement.

The Temecula Pump Track is great because the large scale of the walls and banked turns really allow a rider to go fast and easily maintain their speed throughout the entire track. These high walls and banked turns can be found throughout the track and provide a good variety of left and right turns. This helps riders build riding confidence by getting comfortable taking turns front side and back side.

The pump track also aids riders by providing many places for riders to take breaks. Or they can choose to avoid a steeply banked turn by going up and around, then down a more mellow grade. Another great aspect of this pump track is its length. The Temecula pump track is over 600 feet long with numerous humps to utilize in one lap of the track. This is very long for a pump track and is sure to give any rider a workout.

Checking Out the Flow

There are parts of this pump track that have a obvious flow and traffic pattern. But then when you get to the middle, the flow of the track may start to look a little confusing. The pump track is designed for you to be able to go “straight” to follow as it continues in a loop. But that’s not the only way to ride. There are many opportunities for a rider to choose a different path.

This particular pump track is created in such a way that riders can transition to different parts of the track easily. This makes riding the pump track much more fun because you do not need to repeat the same loop endlessly. Riders have the opportunity to take the same turns in the opposite direction on the same line. This gives riders the freedom of an endless line that can go in any direction. It’s like a surfer finding an endless wave. The feeling of longboarding the Temecula pump track reminds me of the cement surfing at Frisco Skatepark in Colorado!

With every action there is a consequence. And the consequence in this particular situation is that there ends up being a ton of kids on bikes and scooters going every direction. With this freedom comes chaos. Be aware and respectful of others and have fun avoiding the accidents. But bring pads and be ready for anything, because getting hit by a little kid on a big bike does hurt and they can come out of nowhere… or they can see you the whole time and still crash right into you. Most pump tracks have directional arrows which guide the traffic pattern, but not having them is a unique characteristic of this pump track.

Thanks for Reading About the Temecula Pump Track!

Overall, the Temecula pump track is a great pump track. If you like to surf the cement waves then you will love this pump track. If you’re a little nervous and kind of scared of going fast it may be intimidating. Try to go when there is less traffic at first so you can get a feel for the layout and the pumping riding style. But once you’re comfortable, it’s so worth it!
