Trinidad Skatepark – Dream Skatepark in Colorado with Amazing Vert
Trinidad Skatepark is an amazing skatepark in the southeastern corner of Colorado. This skatepark seems so far from the rest of the Colorado skate scene, but don’t let that deter you. This is definitely one of the best skateparks in Colorado. Heck, I’d say this is among the best skateparks in the country! I had a blast cement surfing this entire skatepark with my longboard. Skaters of any skill level will be able to have some fun here, but advanced vert skaters will find it hard to leave.
First Impressions of the Trinidad Skatepark:
When we first arrived at the Trinidad Skatepark I could not believe my eyes. This was the biggest snake run bowl I had ever seen! From surface level to 10+ feet deep. I could not wait to start skating. The skatepark is made into the side of a hill, so the whole skatepark is slightly downhill. The longboarder in me had to bomb the hill next to it too!
Pros: EVERYTHING
Cons: Very minimal lights for night riding

Know Before You Go: This 15,000 sq ft concrete skatepark was built by Grindline Skateparks in 2003. Not much lighting for night riding, and I could not find a bathroom! Bring water and food because you’ll probably be here all day long! And there is a covered picnic table right where there should be.

Riders Thoughts:
Trinidad Skatepark in Colorado is an amazing skatepark for tons of different reasons. Let’s start with the top of the skatepark. The top platform is really wide and littered with obstacles. My style of cement surfing with a longboard in a skatepark works really well with smooth transitions, and this area of the skatepark has a bunch of them!
On one side of the skatepark there are multiple round transitions that feel like rollers in a pump track. These transitions are great for pumping up speed and really add flow to the top platform area of the park. As you can see in the picture below, these features are pretty big just like the rest of the Trinidad Skatepark.
Riders will find a variety of ramps around the skatepark, many of which vary in size and shape which is great for learning and gradually improving your skills. There are also a few different types of rails around the park including round, squared, and a rainbow rail!
The Big Bowl of the Trinidad Skatepark
The big bowl of the Trinidad Skatepark is amazing, probably one of the biggest and most fun bowls that I have ever skated in. This bowl feels like it was created especially for my cement surfing style!
The big bowl is BIG. You can see how small I look in the picture below! (look for me in the upper left hand corner)
The big bowl is pretty much a giant snake run that continues to get deeper and faster as you ride. The run starts in the shallow side with a variety of roll-in or drop-in options. I really enjoyed the different transitions into the big bowl because they flowed really well with the obstacles on the top part of the skatepark. This made it very possible, and fun, to continue a line throughout the entire skatepark.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
The banked turns and smooth transitions really aid riders in building speed while also providing tons of flow around the bowl. There are a few different areas with an elevation change which also gives riders a boost of speed as they continue to the deeper sections of the bowl.
The middle section of the big bowl has a variety of pockets and rounded corners. The large scale and wide layout of the Trinidad Skatepark make it possible take these banked turns in either direction. And you can easily switch your flow to take them in the opposite direction in the same run.
There is a short rounded “twinkie” shaped feature in the middle of the big bowl that I found to be very helpful. The feature is extremely well placed and extremely useful for building speed to get high on the tall walls of the deep sections.
Upper Street Plaza of the Trinidad Skatepark
But wait there’s more! There is also a street plaza area of the Trinidad Skatepark for the street skaters. Athletes can find a pyramid box / manual pad / stair set with a rail in the middle of this area. This area has a short steep banked turn, another small rail, and since this part of the skatepark is the corner of two roads you’ll also find plenty of curb!
The designers of this skatepark added some flow to this side of the park by including a short spine with rounded transitions and a few round rollers. These give you plenty of speed to start your descent into the big section of the skatepark.
Colorado has a ton of great skateparks all over the state, but this one (in my opinion) is definitely one of the best! I had a great time here because this skatepark feels like 100% flow and it was easy for me to hit every corner of the skatepark in one (fast) continuous line.
