Valmont Skatepark: Two Skateparks + Pump Track Near Boulder
The skate scene in Boulder is not only alive and well but there have even been recent upgrades. One major upgrade, and must see spot, is the nearby Valmont Skatepark and Pump Track facility. When visiting the Valmont Skatepark you are actually treated with three different skating experiences. Here you’ll find two skateparks and a pump track. With such a variety of obstacles and skate features, riders of any style and skill level will find something to enjoy here. Below I’ll cover the three different areas that make up the Valmont Skatepark so you’ll know what to expect from this skatepark in Boulder County.
First Impressions: Valmont Skatepark and Pump Track
When we first arrived at the Valmont Skatepark facility I was pumped to see everything it had to offer! Each of the three skate sections are unique in their own ways, geared towards a certain skate experience. And having all three of these skate spots located at the same place makes for an even more unique destination! The Valmont Skatepark facility is a great combination of skate spots because they each have their own great features. And the features at the different parks contrast each other providing a great variety of environments for different riding styles.
The three main parts of the Valmont skate facility just outside of Boulder are: Valmont Pump Track, Greenblock Skatepark, and the Valmont Skatepark.
Pros: Two skateparks and a pump track in one location!
Cons: No big bowls or vert, no lights for night riding

Riders Thoughts:
Three different skate parks means three different sets of Riders Thoughts!
Valmont Pump Track
Let’s start this tour of the Valmont Skatepark facility with my favorite of the three, the Valmont Pump Track. This pump track is built by the one and only Velosolutions.
So of course, like the rest of their builds, this is an amazing pump track with a great layout and a tons of asphalt . These tracks are great for longboarding!
I really enjoy riding a longboard on this pump track because the humps make it easy to build speed. And the large banked turns allow riders to keep their speed through the turn and get high on the wall.
The layout of this asphalt pump track makes a deep “U” shaped track with four main large turns. There is a good amount of humps throughout the track. Riders can easily find both small and larger areas on the track to control how hard they want to pump and how fast they want to go.
The Valmont Pump Track allows riders to take deep banked turns in either direction during a single run. And there are also plenty of smooth roll out areas for riders to exit the track.
Another great feature this pump track offers riders is the easy ability to “cross over” on to a different line and take the track in a reverse route. This adds to the experience because it allows riders to explore different routes instead of taking the same track the same direction every time.
The body movements and momentum of a rider here can feel like surfing, except the wave never ends. You can ride until your legs feel like cement jello. The board that I ride in the pump track is in the photo below. This is a hand painted bamboo fiberglass composite board from Lost Coast Longboarding.
Valmont Skatepark:
The Valmont Skatepark is an 11,000 square foot cement skatepark built by Evergreen Skateparks in 2021. So as you can expect, it features the unique flowy signature style of the Evergreen Skateparks builds. And it is loaded with smooth transitions.
This style of skatepark makes for some great cement surfing with the longboard. And it’s great for riders of any riding experience.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
The layout of Valmont Skatepark is a large loop that circles around a picnic table area in the center.
Most of the obstacles here are small to medium sized and all of the transitions are smooth making this great for riders of any skill level. Experienced riders may find this park a little simple but the flow of the park can make for some fun and creative lines.
The Valmont Skatepark has a variety of obstacles around the park. These include boxes, ledges, rails, some ramps, a volcano, and a few deeper bowl pockets with coping. Most of these obstacles are also small to medium sized and have good transitions. This is great for riders to gradually build their skills.
Green Block Skatepark
Green Block Skatepark is a total DIY skatepark. And it sets its own vibe apart from the other two flowy skate areas. Part of the vibe you get from the Greenblock Skatepark is created by the setting. It is inside of a roofless warehouse with no walls making for a very industrial feel to the park.
The Green Block Skatepark is a pure street style skatepark set on flat concrete with tons of moveable features and obstacles which is why it is such a good DIY skatepark.
Riders can find features like rails, parking blocks, boxes, hydrants, ramps and a bunch of other obstacles that can be moved around how ever you want. This kind of freedom at a city skatepark is pretty cool because most places have rules against moving features and adding obstacles.
All in all, the Valmont Skatepark facility is the perfect stop for a skate sesh. Riders that enjoy a flowy style of riding will enjoy both the Valmont Skatepark and the Valmont Pump Track. And street skaters will enjoy the DIY Green Block Skatepark. But overall all skaters should find something they like at the Valmont Skate facility. Riders of all skill levels will have fun here but advanced riders of big vert and big obstacles may find the parks to be simple.
