Water’s Way Skatepark in Fort Collins | Compact with Fun Flow
Water’s Way Skatepark in Fort Collins is a small but flowy cement skatepark tucked back in a residential neighborhood. This 3,500 sq. ft. skatepark was opened in 2012 and the skate community seems to have mixed reviews about it. Yes, the skatepark is small, but there are smooth transitions and a fun flow all around. I really think “surf skaters” will enjoy the features in this park. The flow of this skatepark makes it decent for riding a longboard in the skatepark, but the small size limits what you can do.

First Impressions:
When we pulled up to the skatepark we couldn’t really see it too well until we walked down the hill and steps. First thing that I noticed when looking at the park was the small size and the flowy smooth transitions.
Pros: Smooth transitions and a good flow.
Cons: Very small, not much perimeter for landing tricks off the ramps.

Know Before You Go: No lights and no bathroom. The neighborhood has really smooth streets and some decent hills great for longboarding!
Riders Thoughts: Water’s Way Skatepark in Fort Collins
The Water’s Way Skatepark in Fort Collins is a cool little concrete skatepark. The small steep banked turns at the entrance of the park give a very small snake bowl feeling.
I was able to enjoy this skatepark with my longboard because there are smooth transitions and roll ins all around the park. It is easy to use the obstacles here like a small pump track to keep your momentum going and to skate laps without having to kick.
I think the shape and flow of the Water’s Way Skatepark would be good for the surf skate style of skaters. The small walls are easy to maneuver and the transitions are good for slashes.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
Traditional street style skaters may find this park a little frustrating because there are not too many street features. Plus, a number of the ramps seem to have no where to land if you were to launch off of them. When we visited, I had the skatepark to myself. But due to the compact size of the skatepark, I could see it getting crowded very easily.
I think when the community decided to add a small skatepark to their neighborhood they probably just wanted somewhere for the kids to be able to ride on their toys which I think they achieved. This skatepark is great for kids, or for novice skaters looking to improve their skills. I think it would be have been great to have this little skatepark in the middle of my neighborhood! It’s not the best skatepark in Colorado, but it’s definitely a place to skate with a good amount of features to play on. If there was no skatepark here, but one kid had this in their backyard they’d have the coolest backyard in the neighborhood for sure.
Water’s Edge Skatepark in Fort Collins is very compact, but the smooth streets and mellow hills all around the neighborhood are great for longboarding! It’s always fun to find some smooth streets in a random neighborhood to longboard. But then to also be able to skate to a skatepark for a chill session makes the experience even better!
