West Valley Skatepark and Pump Tracks in Utah | Centennial Bike Park
The West Valley Skatepark is the largest skatepark in Utah, measuring up at 31,000 square feet. It has an impressive variety of features and a fun, unique layout that makes it easy to be here all day long. Sounds pretty good, right? Well, the West Valley Skatepark just got even better. Now, in addition to the awesome skatepark there are now two (well technically three) very different pump tracks that make up the Centennial Bike Park. Both the skatepark and the pump tracks in West Valley have fun flow that I really enjoyed longboarding. Let’s dive into each of these components and see why the West Valley Skatepark and Centennial Bike Park are worth checking out!
First Impressions: West Valley Skatepark and Pump Tracks
Woah, this skatepark is huge AND there’s a HUGE pump track??! Wait, and there’s more?
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Nothing really to complain about. Sometimes there can be a ton of traffic but that’s to be expected at such a good skatepark.

Know Before You Go: The West Valley Skatepark, West Valley Pump Track, and Centennial Bike Park are all located inside the large city park. Here you can find open grass, playgrounds, ball fields, bathrooms and more. The skatepark sign says it’s open dawn to dusk. But the skatepark is very well lit with big lights until 10 pm.
Riders Thoughts:
Since this skatepark and pump track facility in West Valley has several separate components, I’m going to break it down into sections to make it clearer which I’m addressing.
See it in action!
West Valley Skatepark
The West Valley Skatepark is a huge concrete skatepark with a nice variety of features. The obstacles and layout are good for riders of any skill level and any style of skating. There are a few different areas of the skatepark but it’s pretty easy to find a good flow to connect all of these different areas as you cruise around the park.
When you first walk into the West Valley Skatepark from the parking lot you’re walking on flat concrete. You’ll notice all the boxes and ledges everywhere. You can continue on the flat concrete or go down ramps in either direction. To the right is a simple/beginner area with a few mellow ramps, small ledges, and a small banked turn.
From the skatepark sign, the left side of the park is where riders will find most of the street features and obstacles.
Boxes, rails, ledges, pyramid, banked turns, quarter pipes, ramps, rocks, and banked turns are what riders can expect to find scattered around this area. Usually I don’t spend much time longboarding the street sections of skateparks. But there are a number of unique transitions in this area of the park that may challenge some riders and inspire others to try something new!
From the West Valley Skatepark sign, the far end of the skatepark (closest to the street), is a really cool snake bowl that has a ton of flow. The snake bowl is pretty big though not very deep. It’s quite long with about 6 pockets that flow together really well. Riders can experience mellow ramps as well as steep walls with smooth transitions, concrete ledges, metal ledges, coping, and even tiles in the deepest section.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now!
While riding my longboard in the skatepark, I really enjoyed the flow and transitions of the snake bowl. The large bridge is a very notable and pretty centrally located feature of the West Valley Skatepark that can be found on the shallow end of the flow bowl. This bridge reminded me of the Arvada Skatepark in Colorado.
The bridge is a large feature that can be utilized in a few different ways. Of course, starting at the top of the bridge will give your line a lot of speed as you fly around the skatepark. But the bridge also creates a little tunnel. You can go through this as you start a line or exit your line from the flow bowl. If you leave the flow bowl through the tunnel you will find the last bowl of West Valley Skatepark.
This shallow bowl is a very versatile bowl. There is a waterfall roll in on one side with coping and metal ledges around the other areas of the perimeter. This bowl has a rounded square shape with a rounded hump in the middle. This hump is a great feature for pumping up speed. Although the shallow bowl is kind of small, it has a good flow. We saw many people and different types of wheels having fun in this bowl.
Pump Tracks in West Valley
The West Valley Pump Track and Centennial Bike Park can be kind of confusing to describe in words. You can see from the overhead view of the layout below that there are several different parts to the large pump track area. There are three main components which I’ll explain and review further below.
West Valley Mini-Pump Track
We can start with the smallest of the West Valley pump tracks found closest to the parking lot. This is a modular track with a triangular layout, ideal for kids or for learning how a pump track works. The corners feel narrow, forcing riders to take and learn how banked turns work. This little track is very simple. And there is no way to turn around so once you’re going fast it can feel like you’re just going in circles. But like I said, it’s great pump track for kids and beginners.
There is also a small, flat area with a yellow and blue tube/tunnel feature. This can be a fun addition for new riders and kids to ride while they’re taking turns on the pump track. It’s similar to the small path of obstacles at the Bluffdale Skatepark and Pump Track.
West Valley Pump Track
The West Valley Pump Track is an asphalt pump track with a bunch of humps and banked turns that zig zag around. This track makes a pretty good loop with multiple banked turns in different directions.
This fast paced pump track has some pretty steep humps and turns that can really keep riders on their toes. I really enjoyed longboarding this area of the pump track. The humps and turns are ideal for fast speeds on a board. This track does not have any directional arrows, so you can go whichever way you’d like. And there are a few opportunities to reverse your flow mid track.
There are a few areas in this pump track that are pretty steep. Going fast can allow you to fly over these humps. But without a lot of speed most longboards will probably bottom out pretty good.
Centennial Bike Park in West Valley
The largest track area here is called Centennial Bike Park. It has many different features that are not usually found at asphalt pump tracks. Some of these features include jumps, wood ramps, and bridges.
Lines here usually start on top of the large black bridge. From the bridge you can go down to the pump track mentioned above or you can go down the hill onto the large bike track. There is definitely a dirt track scene for bikes that incorporate wood jumps and ramps, but this is the first time we have ever seen these types of elements on an asphalt pump track.
The humps and hills on this pump track are very big compared to the average pump track. So this track provides a very unique experience that allows riders to go fast and cover a lot of distance. Most of the riders here are on bikes (hence the name Centennial Bike Park). But the asphalt aspect of the track allows athletes to also ride boards or scooters here! The large track has some flat areas that are so long they will require some kicking which makes this feel like a longboard path but the features make it very exciting.
The wood features of the pump track were a new experience for me and a very unique aspect of this pump track in West Valley. On a longboard, the wood feels different on your wheels. It vibrates your feet pretty good but the planks are smooth and close enough together to go over without any major issues.
With an impressive variety of this facility is a must for riders in the area. Riders of any skill level will have fun at the West Valley Skatepark, Centennial Bike Park, and West Valley Pump Track. It is easy for a skate or bike enthusiasts to spend all day here because there is such a variety of features that make this place very unique.
