Wheat Ridge Skatepark | Big Bowl and Fun Street Section
Wheat Ridge Skatepark is a fun spot to check out while in the Denver area! It’s a medium sized 12,000 sq. ft. cement skatepark created by Team Pain Skateparks. This fun skatepark has something for both street and vert skaters. The skatepark in Wheat Ridge can be found about 20 minutes from downtown Denver and we found it to be way less busy than the Downtown Denver Skatepark. Read on to find out more about the layout and features.

Riders Thoughts: Wheat Ridge Skatepark
Wheat Ridge Skatepark is a fun skatepark with a variety of transitions all over the park. When riding my longboard in this skatepark I enjoy the amount of smooth rounded transitions around the park. I usually stick to the vert sections of skateparks, but the street section at the Wheat Ridge Skatepark has a good amount of flow due to these smooth transitions.
The street section of the Wheat Ridge Skatepark has a number of features including boxes, cement and metal ledges, coping, a few rails, a variety of quarter pipes, and some pyramids.
This skatepark includes a covered shelter in the middle of the park that provides riders with some shade and a spot to chill after some hard skating. The shelter has a cement floor that’s connected to the skatepark and surrounded in some big rocks that can be used as skating features.
For me, the highlight of the Wheat Ridge Skatepark was the large bowl and vert section of the park. The large bowl has a really unique shape with different depths and levels. The bowl also has a bunch of pockets and banked turns that are great for longboarding in a skatepark.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
The most unique feature of the large bowl is the large quarter pipe and raised area behind the ramp. This is a great place to start a run in the bowl. As you descend down the steep incline, it makes it easy to start a line with some speed. This area was kind of tricky with a longboard. The angle of the descent made my longboard bottom out and it slid unexpectedly, which actually made me fall. The impact of this fall tore the rotator cuff in my shoulder and took my arm out of commission for a number of months. Here are a few pictures of the descent and the impact I felt on my shoulder.
