Wheel Park Skatepark in Aurora | Great Features for Everyone
Wheel Park Skatepark in Aurora, Colorado is an amazing 20,000 sq. ft. cement skatepark with a ton of really good skate features. The park was designed by SITE Design Group, Inc. who created a park that is great for athletes of any age or any skill level. And it’s a great skatepark for anyone looking to improve any aspects of their abilities. I really enjoyed the transitions of the Wheel Skatepark. The flow of the entire park is a lot of fun for my cement surfing style of riding a longboard in a skatepark.

Riders Thoughts: Wheel Park Skatepark in Aurora
Wheel Park Skatepark in Aurora really is a great skatepark for all types of riders. Beginners will have plenty of open space and mellow features to start on while pros will have a blast shredding each corner of this skatepark. And everyone in between will find endless opportunities to improve many their current skills.
There are numerous ramps and features of varying steepness which can allow advanced riders to get creative with their lines. It also allows new riders to slowly get more comfortable with larger ramps. The different types of transitions throughout the park help riders experience new things and different sensations while riding. In my opinion, this skatepark provides more variety than most other skateparks.
I made a huge leap in my own longboarding skills when I unlocked a new trick at the Wheel Skatepark in Aurora. I finally learned how to drop in on my longboard with no tail! This is not an easy thing to do so I was pumped. I made an entire article on how to drop in on a longboard with no tail to share how I did it. You can check out the article to see more pictures and a detailed description of the steps I took. Or if you’d rather learn via video check out our Youtube Video.
Another skill I was able to improve on at this skatepark was my ability to ride my longboard over the coping. This skatepark provides riders with a few different spots of varied coping that are good for learning on.
Shred it Later – Pin it Now
I installed rails on my longboard to prevent damage from bottoming out on the coping. The flexibility of a Lost Coast Longboarding bamboo/fiberglass longboard deck helps riders maintain control and responsiveness during this transition. The smooth transitions and banked turns of the large snake run area were the highlight of the skatepark in Aurora for my cement surfing style of riding a longboard in a skatepark.
There is a large pool bowl in the corner of the Wheel Skatepark with a unique shape that has rounded corners and is fully lined in coping. I was able to use my new found skill of dropping in to shred the large pool bowl!
This is the first bowl I have ever dropped into, and I was stoked! The great flow of this park made it easy for me to air out of the bowl and add the rest of the skatepark to a single line without having to kick at all.
Street riders will find a number of cement boxes and pyramids around the skatepark as well as quarter pipes and ledges all over.
On the street side of the Wheel Skatepark you’ll find a bunch of ramps, ledges, and two rails. The street side of the park has a pretty good flow that lines up riders really well with the obstacles. It also directs traffic in a back and forth manner.
I highly recommend any skater looking to improve their abilities to visit the Wheel Skatepark in Aurora, Colorado. I know I am a better skater because I spent a day or two here, and I think you can too!
